  • Provide juke boxes with a decent selection of tracks, come on guys we're in the CD/computer age now.
No no no no no! I like a bit of music in the pub, but I don't want to have to pay for it when I'm already paying £2+ a pint. Plus I hate being subjected so someone else's poor taste in music.
  • hmm take great offense at this liberal blackballing of bar persons >:( as use to be a part time barman, as for G&T I like Bombay sapphaire, experience has taught me never to pour in the bottle of Tonic as 4 out of 10 people then claim their is no gin in the Glass and try to get away with a free shot{Hmm no not a MS tip!!}!!!! Gin is great ice cold and have to have a good wedge of Lime and Lemon not thoose air thin slices some places give out. Use to make great Cocktails but use to drive our Chef crazy as use to use up his exotic fruits!! Yes I prefer the Del-Boy style cocktail...lol

    Cheers

Health & Hygiene stopped this - you don't know who could put what in them and some people have a habit of saying 'I can't use them tong things' and proceed to use their hands :-X And if a customer dropped a piece of ice then someone slipped on it or the puddle of water it left - people could try to sue :o

We have ice buckets at the campus bars at uni! I'd never seen them before I came here

In accordance with the Food Safety Regulations 1995 ice is classed as a food. Because of this it must be made, stored and handled appropriately to protect it from all contamination.

This includes the bucket being cleaned to the usual standards used with any food containers, a lid is kept on when not in use and only staff can handle it.

In other words 'GET THE BUCKET OFF THE BAR!' ;)

(BTW - the reason I know this is because I was a bar manager and have my Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, National Licencees Certificate and British Institute of Innkeeping qualification. It isn't just some useless information I have in my head ;D)

I used to work in a pub part time and my vent would be the sad old blokes.

Why do they automatically assume that because there's a girl pulling their pint they have the right to chat them up, be lewd, crude and rude and get annoyed if they ask them out and get refused?

    Wierd... :-/

I just pop in now and then.... :)

I'm not saying don't tip but I always remembered who was the most polite to me above who tipped :-/
Good bar people should serve in turn and be polite and friendly to all custumors though as that has more chance of generating tips. The person you ignore over the one who tipped you first is not going to tip you as you have not played fair so that is one tip lost. Do this all night and you've missed a lot of potential tips.
