I bought an item from eBay that was sent on the 29th of November. Having waited (taking into account the strikes and bad weather) yesterday I phoned Royal Mail to ask where it was as it has been in transit for 15 days. The seller had sent it 48 hr special delivery.

There is no such thing as 48 hour special delivery? I certainly wouldn't call Tracked24/48 that.

Just received an ebay package, RM second class. posted 25th Nov arrived 16 dec.
    So long wait!
I'm waiting for an item that was posted from France on the 22nd Nov, and had a del estimate of 28th Nov - 5th Dec. The tracking number provided (La Poste) states the item left France on 23rd Nov, but thats all. So i was gonna put in an INR, but reading your post gives me a bit of hope i'll still get it. But i guess I'll have to open an INR by the 27th Dec regardless?

Your item could still be in Customs. Royal Mail won't have any visibility of it until it is released.

Batches of mail are randomly selected for extra checks and delays of several weeks are not unknown.

Just had a total of 4 INRs for parcels posted 2nd class small parcel about 2.5 to 3 weeks ago. Seems like chaos out there.

Waiting for a parcel to arrive that was posted on 2nd.
3 that I posted on 7th have not arrived, all to BS post codes so I am not holding out much hope for them after seeing the pictures posted elsewhere.
Another 5 that I posted arrived in under a week.
Parcel posted to me on 2nd arrived this morning and one of my 3 to BS posted 7th arrived as well.

  • I'm in Bristol (BS5) and am now waiting for 4 parcels - all posted end of November/ early December.

I had my first Royal Mail delivery in ages today - 10 items, all were sent around 21 November.

I'm not expecting any of my parcels before Christmas now.

Update my parcel arrived on Saturday. So from posting to arrival was just under 3 weeks, when it should have been 48hrs.

It's completely unpredictable.  I ordered 2 items in 25th November.  One arrived 4 days later - the other has yet to appear.  A package sent from Bristol 7th Dec arrived on the 10th but items posted in the last week of November arrived on the 13th.  I'm glad I'm not selling at the moment - as said above, it's almost a lose-lose for a small seller using RM.
I need to think of something new here...

The remaining 3 BS parcels have arrived
One posted from BS to here last week took under a week.

  • I posted a parcel 2nd class on 21st Dec. Just checked and to my amazement it was delivered the next day!

Another parcel posted on 18th Dec has yet to arrive.
  • Lady at out local post office - this is just a rumour but based on what she has heard - has indicated the Royal Mail are planning extended strikes. for many more months.
