@QueenJess Any system is fine, as long as it makes your life simpler! Is there any way to make the attic more easily accessible? Shelving in the attic, maybe?I know I almost broke down crying when I just had dd2, and I had asked my Mum to sort dds' future clothes the way I described it, and she didn't; she sorted them by size, all types of clothes mixed together. I knew I wouldn't have the energy and the time to do it myself for another couple of months. I didn't ask for much, I'm pretty flexible in most things, but when I do have a system figured out that works for me, and I actually ask for it to be followed, I get really upset if people (close to me) don't. I hate re-inventing the wheel every week; once I have a routine in place, it should run itself, mindlessly.

The attic is boarded and reasonably empty, but I don’t want to go up and down to do quick checks on what I have for the next size or when you inevitably find the T-shirts need to be the next size up but not jumpers or trousers yet! Saying that, I could keep out the next size of everything in boxes at the top of the wardrobe and then put even larger sizes in the attic and see how that works. There’ll be less and less to pass down over time, not least because DS completely wears out his clothes. How does he even manage to completely wear through Pjs?!!2025 decluttering: 3,993🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Lots of activity on here - the Charity shops must be heaving
I am still on board with the minimalist game - decluttering as many things as the day of the month - so today I have 16 things to declutter - managed 8 so far of old papers and bills.
Gave some unused toiletries to a friend and considering asking my building if they want an old office chair - its fine but I have too many and recently was given a snazzy one on wheels so
I did put 24 things on ebay yesterday - so far one bid but at least it gets stuff out the house and I have loads boxes all waiting to be used as ebay packaging that is driving me crazy.
Waiting for a FB person to come pick up my 2nd double fridge freezer - it works great but taking up unnecessary space and I have switched it off since elec price rises. He didnt turn up last night as said car had broken down ,, I will give it to tonight and then just get rid of it to someone else - had 7 inquiries - only asking £50DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Amy Dacyczyn describes a similar method in The Tightwad Gazette.

Well well well ! It seems decluttering is definitely worth the effort. I sorted my underwear drawer in the bedroom. Got rid of 40 ‘things’. ( NOT a spelling error of thongs🤣🤣🤣)
most of it was old soaps and empty perfume bottles that were supposed to create a nice smell in the drawer, but were so old there was no perfume left! Also decluttered loads of the little cards you get with flowers from the florist and random birthday cards etc. Decided that I didn’t need to keep them. However along the way I found £100 tucked into the corner of the drawer.😁 I got it as a joke off husband about 2 month ago (can’t remember why) and fully intending to give him it back and I forgot about it. Whoop Whoop!Declutter challenge 2023.

I've had a not-too-bad day- a chat with my clinical supervisor this morning, then a trip to the garden centre with mum. Had a minor eek moment when OH called to say his infusion is taking longer to go through (he's in hospital for the afternoon), so had to mobilise mum to collect DD, as I'm not allowed to drive
I have the following to add
49- Broken reading glasses - to recycling (technically yesterday- I forgot to add them)
50- Costume jewellery- some to charity shop, some to recycling, some to my bead collection
51- Handful of pens sorted through
52- Desk drawer decluttered and tidied20 -
Well an emotional afternoon trawling through photographs and greetings cards. I have thinned down the photos. Having taken out the fuzzy ones and some scenic ones that i couldnt remember locations of. Also some doubles. Basically the ones that i would delete from my phone these days.
Then onto the wedding cards, baby cards 25th and 40th anniversary cards and all of the birthday cards and letters rhat children and grandchildren have sent through the years. I am afraid that they have all been packed back in box and put away again. DH came up at one point and asked why i was crying. I told him they were happy tears! Not sure he gets it!!! Anyway it was a lovely afternoon and a quarter of a bin bag cleared. I am counting it as 1 due to the emotional roller coaster I went on to manage this. 🤣. Then 7 year old Grandaughter rang to tell us that her poem has been published in a book. I asked if they could get one for me but it sounds like I somehow missed that boat so nothing else to add to the boxes yet.

Dr called me with the results for last week's scan, I wasn't expecting a call so fumbled my phone and missed the call.... fortunately she called straight back. I have thickening of stomach lining caused by polyps so need to be referred to a different dept to get it all sorted. Tried to make the appointment online and there are none, had to leave contact details and they should get back to me within the week.... apparently 9/10 patients start treatment within 41 weeks.... speechless. At least the worry if not knowing is gone. Just have to make sure I don't Google it...
Today I organised the pantry (cupboard under the stairs) and allocated things i had brought for dc in advance for birthday presents and issac newton's birthday word presents. (I have 2 small boxes in the cupboard for holding these things) Made a list of what else I want to get them so am organised on that front.2024 decluttering Campaign

Been to the last week of a pastoral course today so will free up my Mondays. Hard going today at the course about domestic abuse.
Done some sorting today.
I have decided not to attend SA tomorrow as I will be busy there on Wednesday and on Thursday we are at a friend's funeral.
I seem to be doing some moving around of stuff at the moment but I know what my aim is.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
