I am channeling my inner Mhagster.
Good luck with that! I’m still processing stuff! We went to garden centre today and I ended up buying 12 beautiful large heavy glass baubles ( similar to ones I’d already bought) they were 50p each! So much for not buying any more Christmas decorations😆😆😆
I would always say to mum ( nicely) I’ll get it when you’re gone! And knew it would be a tremendous task and knew ( like it was when mum was alive) that it would just be me to do it ( I have 2 siblings) but oooft at the actual amount of stuff in drawers and cupboards and piled high on surfaces and loft and shed and garage. So much stuff. And I don’t want that for my children..though they can gladly have the garage to sort that’s mainly their stuff!Think all that’s mine is the lawnmower 😆 I don’t want for them to spend three months their lives sorting piles and piles of stuff and trips and trips to the tip and finding homes for random stuff. I just don’t.Good luck to everyone who is on their decluttering journey. It certainly makes you wonder/ think why we hang onto things. No de-cluttering today though. Just sitting in front of the fire with a doggy beside me!21 -
Struggled a bit today - looked at my stuff and felt a bit down but I carried on.
I am at 433 items decluttered against aim of 105!
Still a huge task ahead. Just need to remember that I didn't gather all my stuff in a few days or even months!

Four 'pairs' of mismatched socks with holes and another pretty tin - one that held biscuits originally. I'm also trying to do one household thing every day - emptied, cleaned and refilled the food cupboard Thursday, underwear and sock drawer yesterday, and wardrobe today. Realised I still have a sun lounger tucked in at the back of the wardrobe from when someone stayed a few nights. Perhaps a charity shop will take it when the weather starts warming up.Fashion on the Ration 2025 - 1.5 coupons remaining

Evening allOur lovely hoggie has been very busy making herself a nest in the hog house. We've been watching her on the hog cam. Only one more night in Itthe enclosure then we'll let her out. It's miserable here today i hope she hibernates soon.Today I've gone through all my emails and had a good clean. My utility room has been scrubbed and tidied, with several things recycled and put in the bin. DS has his girlfriend here. She's very good for him and makes him tidy up.20

Ooh - thanks very much for my medal @Mrs_Salad_Dodger.I have been online, measured up and made some preliminary decisions re: how to make DD's room work properly. It will repurpose most of what we have and we just have to buy 2 frames. I've then moved one piece of furniture in DD's room to see roughly how it would look and am liking it already. Just need to think about how to move the rest round so I can get the best feel of how it will look before I buy anything. I will be excited to get that room and the dreaded clothes finally sorted. In the meantime, I went through the overflowing box of clothes for DD's next size up. I managed to declutter a bit, but I still have too much there. I was finding it difficult to do more, so I suspect I will need to do multiple rounds. I really want to get it into 1 box ideally! A little bit everyday is definitely the easiest way to do this for me.459-67 - kids clothes (too many! - gone to school charity bag)2025 decluttering: 3,984🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

@mhagster - I'm more worried about it taking a year to clean out.
When my great-aunt died, she owned two houses side by side - and it took many family members five years to clear everything out before the houses could be sold. My father's family were great hoarders, but it all went to aunts by marriage who grabbed everything they could. And my mother's family moved to California from Oklahoma and left almost everything behind. So didn't inherit anything from them either, except a couple pieces of furniture my grandmother had given me when I first moved away from home. All the clutter in this house was my parents or mine (I inherited the house) or brought in by roommates (or added to since they got here for the boys), But the house looks awful and I am afraid to invite anyone over. I am waiting for the repairman to come (our regular Internet and phone still being out - 8 days now). Just afraid he might not be able to get what he need access to. I was nervous about even saying it was okay for him to come as the house looks so bad - especially the living room.15 -
Thankyou for your ever present support Mrs SD. Life is always like this for me. Loads of family drama then periods of relative quiet where I catch up with stuff.
@Brie I worked in trauma for many years and there were a surprising number of older ladies who fell in the garden in winter. Chasing birds and squirrels. I am surprised some of them survived.
Hugs @Florenceem Its ok. We all get like that from time to time. Despite your mood you still got rid of a tidy amount of stuff but even if it was one thing I would still be applauding you.
So despite a slow start it has been a good day. DH posted back his work computers and I posted a box of new conference folders that were DSisters. So 2 bags out if you like.
Also, now here is the good thing, I couldn't find this box of said folders because I had put them right at the back of my craft room !!!!!! online sales shop store. I had to pull out loads of stuff to get to them. While the opportunity arose I put the shelves from the porch in place. They had been sitting on the landing since a few weeks ago. I emptied carrier bags full of 'stock'. Tidied boxes onto the shelves and generally got some organisation back in there. It was a job I was putting off.
One of my current projects is to gather all the things I want to sell together in one place. Box them up and work through them putting online. I want to avoid adding to them. I have a book with a list of contents for each box. This is an ongoing project so will take several years to work through.
Worked at the CS this afternoon and it is clear that many people have been having a clear out. We had about 20 bags delivered in 10 minutes. I am very pleased with myself as I was attracted by many trinkets but bought nothing.
