1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Christmas Eve & another dark dreary & very windy day 😔 I have woken up with a splitting headache but will try to ease it away by drinking plenty of fluids before resorting to tablets 🤞 Timer is on & away we go ….
Lovely post Liverpool_Anne 😊 especially this “London_1, not at all silly to be excited about a tip run. At the rate you are going you will be moving to the IOW with just hand luggage” Your observations on young people having to move away from beautiful locations to find work are sadly spot on 😔 but there does seem to be no other solution 😔
charlies_tribe, after yesterday’s mayhem I hope you are having a relaxing Sunday 🤞What do they call it…. The calm before the storm 😉
QueenJess, sorry to hear that DD’s teething has meant that you have been missing out on your sleep 😔 Although you have done more decluttering & tidying in your ‘zombie state’ than I have done in the last 2 months, so please be very proud 🥹 👏 Your 40,000 target is tantalisingly close🤩 As to your DS - congratulations to him on his 100% attendance certificate 🥳
weenancy, perhaps you could get visitors to do a bit of tidying & decluttering - just enough so they can sit down 😅 Only joking 🙃 Fingers crossed that the new/rebuilt bookcases will provide the solution to the book challenge 🤞Brie’s observation “It's a well known scientific fact that books multiply. The loss of energy for this multiplication is balanced by the energy that is generated when socks disappear. I'm sure if we google we can find someone's physics thesis...” is spot on 👏😅
Well said Brie 👏
Crazycatlady2, you had such a busy day yesterday - hopefully you can relax today 🤞
Excellent electronic decluttering Wednesday2000 👏 & yippee to new washing machine being delivered & plumbed in 🥳 Pleased to hear that you managed to have a relaxing evening 😊
Excellent decluttering London_1 👏 I think you will probably miss your car - or should that be minibus 😉 but you are getting such great service from it 😊 A far cry from Tip runs on a motorbike 🤣 Wishing you a very Merry & relaxing Christmas with your lovely family 😃
oceanspirit, that was brave going shopping on the day before Christmas Eve 🤩 Well done on continuing to declutter your store cupboard/s 👏 Please try to fit in at least a little relaxation today 🙏
short_bird, excellent work on the ‘deferred decisions’ 👏
Muddy_Walker, confession is good for the soul but rest is good for the body 😉 You are very naughty doing so much in a day so please, please rest & relax today 🙏🙏
Liverpool_Anne, yippee to the footy ticket finally being sorted out 🥳 Sorry to hear that being unwell has completely disrupted your sleep patterns 😔 However, well done on the decluttering 👏 Hopefully you & OH can declutter Covid 🤞🙏 & have a quiet, relaxing Christmas Day 😊 I must admit that when we brought home the olive tree in a carrier bag (from Columbia Road Market) we never expected it to grow quite so well 😉 Your reply to QueenJess sounds very familiar 😊 My lovely Mum didn’t really keep much by way of sentimental items (not much to keep 😔) but anything she did keep has been kept by DSis who also seems to keep & acquire more bits & pieces on a daily basis 😞 Hope you managed at least a couple more hours of sleep this morning 🤞
I have started to flag now so will be back later to finish the cheerleading 😉 The good news for me is that my first cuppa has almost got rid of my headache without resorting to tablets 😮💨
Wishing everyone a quiet & relaxing Christmas Eve 😊

Today there has been presents out for FIL as we visited today and he won't come for Christmas and choses to spend it alone. DH will take him out for dinner on boxing day though
Today I'll be mostly decluttering party food and wine in my Xmas PJ's 😂
Hope everyone has a great Christmas 🎄🎄13 -
A very happy and peaceful Christmas to everyone on here. Special hugs for all who need them. I try to remember the good times in years past and not dwell on the sadness of those who are no longer with us. Large amounts of money decluttered but that is it. Quiet day tomorrow until the grandchildren come in the evening then the whole family on Boxing Day. This afternoon I finally decided I did not want to look at the pile of wood (ex tree branches) outside and did three trips to the tip - it is all gone. DS2 has been cooking all day.

Hello fellow Declutterati, sorry RL has got in the way of me posting, although I have just about kept up with reading along. I just wanted to stop by to ask if I could join the 2024 EDT, please? I will update my final numbers before the end of the year; I’ve been rather lax with counting the items out over the last few weeks as I just wanted it all gone, so it will be an approximate figure! Sending get well and best wishes to anyone who needs them, and hugs to anyone who is not feeling very happy for whatever reason at this time of year. With love, H x16

This afternoon I had a lovely surprise phone call from my step-uncle 😊 He was very chatty & we exchanged all our family news - happy & sad. It was so lovely catching up - quite brightened my day. Finally delivered the neighbours cards 🙊 DH & I have chopped & peeled most of the vegetables for tomorrow + all the meat apart from the small turkey joint has defrosted.
London_1, it is starting to sound like the largest ‘item’ you will be transporting to IoW is your collection of books 😉 + the hand luggage that Liverpool_Anne mentioned 😆 I believe you will be moving with your DD, so I hope she is doing lots of decluttering as well 😉😉 It definitely sounds like you have your work cut out re decluttering books 😥 I now have this vision of you (grinning from ear to ear 😄) with one packed suitcase surrounded by boxes of books & just waiting to start your journey to the IoW 😂
TC77, now, now - probably more like 16% tidy 😉 Only joking as it is probably way more than that 😊 I see you haven’t posted your numbers for a while - However I think you have probably hit 2023 so I am making an executive decision & awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ The CS bag will be an excellent start to your 2024 decluttering campaign so don’t forget to count the number of items in the bag 😊
flamingo747, sounds like you have everything sorted for tomorrow if you are deep cleaning your kitchen 😊
vulpix, shame about the olive tree you gifted 😔 especially as the friend ignored your advice 😞 I think you are correct - my olive tree is probably about 20 years old & has been mainly left to its own devices in the sun trap that is our south facing back garden 😊
Brie “My OH used to put things on Wikipedia that were completely made up....they do check eventually but it was great fun and one entry actually got cited in an academic paper!!!” That is absolutely brilliant 😂😂😂😂😂😂
nannywindow, sorry to hear that you are still in the TLC Carriage 😔 but very pleased that you will be well enough to celebrate Christmas 😊 Very happy to hear that DH is doing most of the cooking 😊
Crazycatlady2, sounds like a perfect way to spend Christmas Eve 😊
Excellent decluttering GrannyKate 👏 I love that you have contracted out the cooking to DS2 😊 Could you send him round to my place when he is finished 🤣🙃
sumb7170, sorry to hear that RL has been getting in the way 😔 Absolutely you can board the 2024 EDT, your seat has been reserved 😊 I am hoping that 2024 will be far kinder than 2023 - for all of us 🙏 The 2023 EDT will soon be pulling into sidings for its annual deep clean & re-stock 🙂 & will then set off as the 2024 EDT 😉
Well said Floss 😊
All caught up & it only leaves me to say that I wish all my fellow Declutterati & their family & friends a lovely Christmas - however you spend it 🤶 🎅 🎄

Mrs SD, thank you for my gold star, I think with a couple of frogs I have reached 2023 and tomorrow going to DD1's taking food but also some glasses, crockery and 2 items of furniture (1 may come back). DD2 already there. Also done a little cleaning.
I will be counting all in the CS bag for the new year to get off to a flying start as I climb aboard the decluttering train which I can see will be speeding along again.
Merry Christmas all, and wishing everyone a peaceful and happy time, and speedy recovering for those not well, X17 -
Merry Christmas. Have a good day if you can today. If it turns into a disaster, it will become a part of the family lore for years to come. So either way, have some memories today.

Hi all, small amount done today as I had a bit of energy earlier. The bedroom bin emptied and 2 LDFPA. I have another load to go in the machine but I fell asleep so it can wait until tomorrow
. Nothing urgent as we are not going out
. I àlso got to grips with most of the kitchen after OH finally finished the washing up. The sink is empty and various empty bottles, jars and tins have been washed and put in the recycling. There is space on the worktop to prep and organise the dinner tomorrow though there is still some rubble at one end that I might tackle tomorrow if I have the energy. I don't mind doing a roast dinner, veggie version, as it is just about getting the timing right, nothing fiddly and as long as we are full we are happy campers
. OH's sister has been on the phone to tell us what food she has organised for boxing day.. I have no idea why unless she thinks we might be negative by then and go to hers. I think she is clutching at straws as I don't think there is any chance we will be negative by then and even if we were I don't think either of us will have the energy to face the drive and then deal with the houseful of people and drive back. She has 11 people in her 3 bed semi atm including the baby and the 2 German based children. The children are actually a bit upset we are not there, especially OH as they think we are really funny so OH has been texting silly jokes for them. I have suggested we might visit them sometime next year as we can travel there by train, OH is not cleared to fly yet after the blood clot and as they live by lake Constance I would quite like to see the area. OH is thinking about it
.
Right off to bed now, hugs to anybody who would like one

Take care everyone

Merry Christmas to fellow Declutterati 🎄I hope you all have a wonderful day in whatever ways you choose to enjoy it xx
The turkey is in the oven and the fridge looks a lot clearer, for the moment anyway! I’m back in bed with a cup of tea. Owing to this and that, all the present wrapping was done late last night. We have used up almost every scrap of Christmas paper from the stash and existing ribbons and trimmings for decoration. I still have a lifetime of ribbons left so I obviously went mad on buying the stuff at some point! Unfortunately I did buy a box of crackers and then discovered I had some left over from previous years. Proof of checking the cupboards before shopping being moneysaving.Take it easy @Liverpool_Anne and don’t overdo things while you have Covid 💐12
