That’s good advice @wort . I would add to start with something small and easy to give yourself a boost to carry on. But most importantly just start and do anything. It’s easy to procrastinate, so don’t think too hard and just do something, anything!2025 decluttering: 3,925🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Morning lovelies, i do enjoy reading all your updates even if I dont get to comment on then. And I still think Mrs SD is totally amazing for keeping tabs on us all and cheerleading everyday!!
I am just sbout hanging on by a thread, having pain everyday is so draining. But I am lucky it dies down once I get moving and gives me a few hours refilef until it begins again some time after lunch, so I am going to try and use that time productively this morning. I need to take DD to her lessons then just might drop in to the macmillan coffee morning and then im going to try and clean down stairs. It has got into rather a state and it needs a jolly good sort out. Im writing this here partly to be accountable, i will report back later today!
Have a good day all

Good luck with your day Flowerpot. I’m sorry to hear you are in pain and hope things improve soon.@Mrs_Salad_Dodger - thank you for my star and for Mr MV’s medal. Hopefully it will continue to motivate him!
@ajmoney - I had to start small and went for the visible flat surfaces that were bothering me the most before I got stuck into cupboards and drawers. I made sure that I completed one spot before tackling another as I am easily overwhelmed. If I couldn’t actually put things away then that indicated which storage area needed to be pulled out and gone through. That then became my next job so I have moved around my home in quite an organic way. Having a bag for life designated for the CS also helps me as I can pop things in there as I come across them. Once it is full I donate on my next trip into town.Happy Birthday @Liverpool_Anne 🥳🎂15 -
Thank you everyone.I have just about finished with my clothes when looking at them generally, I think I will go back and grab everything out to see how many of each thing I have but for now it has been a case of what fits and have I actually worn it. If I haven't, why. I have two bags for the charity shop which I will take along today.I watched sort your life out last night for the first time, I would definitely like to empty my house out in another location and see what I actually have. There isn't loads here but I could have a bit of perspective and realise that once I am on top of it I can let it go.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

@ajmoney The main thing about KonMari is that you only keep the things that make you happy; the rest can go. For instance: you may have 8 pairs of scissors, but only 3 suit your hands, are rust free, and cut properly; the other 5 can go. It's similar to 'have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful'.

Flamingo Thanks for clearing the birthdays up. Happy birthday for tomorrow, in case I don't get on here. 🎂
LiverpoolAnne happy birthday to you too 🎉🎂
Vulpix sorry about the mix up.
The wm is on as this is the first dry day we have had for a week. DH will help me hang things out as I hurt my hip yesterday when I picked up a box awkwardly and I have been in pain all night.
Hugs to anyone in need

I saved an image ages ago that says:"If you're not using the stuff in your home, get rid of it. You're not going to start using it more by shoving it in a cupboard somewhere."I am kind of going with this mentality but making sure that I don't get rid of things that I use on an ad-hoc basis. When I next have a decent amount of free time, stationery is the thing to tackle and I definitely need the Kon Mari method for that!MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Rubbish, whether it is in the landfill or in your home, is still rubbish.
If you wouldn't bring it into your home from somewhere else, somewhere else is where you need to put it
Sounds like you've made an excellent start @ajmoney ! My Fantasy Self owned quite a few pieces of clothing that my Actual Self can't or won't wear, and they had to go on to a new home.
Thank you Nannywas going to see my mum for early bday lunch but Mr Flamingo has the cold that Junior Flamingo had earlier in the week, and I don't want to give it to my mum who had covid a few weeks ago.
Not much decluttering here today, I am trying to do it inline with the original flylady room plan, and so my living room has had a good go over this week already. I suppose I could look at my crafting stuff again!Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
So much for writing a 2nd post yesterday 😉 However I did manage a small decluttering session - when looking for a specific recipe I managed to thin out the folder of clippings - 0.5” of paper recycled. Wrote a shopping list for DH who went to sm about 18:15. Dinner was hm spaghetti Bolognaise - one of my better efforts 😉 A large portion of Bolognaise sauce is in the freezer for another time. Friday is another bright & breezy day 🙂 I was up & dressed by 10:00 🥳 The day has started really well as the bin men finally emptied the very full wheelie bin 🥳😮💨 The last time it was emptied was Wednesday 13th September as our refuse collectors went on strike on Monday 18th 😔 New bin liner already in. The recycling hasn’t been collected yet (last collected Thursday 7th September) but of course that is not so urgent. I have also done the wudupa which I neglected to do last night 😔
2063 - 2065 Kitchen recycling, 0.5” paper, drinks cans - recycled

Liverpool_Anne, the “Slow Decluttering” article is proving very interesting - I keep dipping in & out 😉 Hopefully I can settle into a new routine & deal with a few frogs 🤞Firstly I would like to wish you a Happy Birthday 🎂💐 Maybe the present is a matching warthog 😉 Hope you have a lovely relaxing day after your social whirl of the last few days 😊 Well done on getting the ACAS documents posted off & I will keep everything crossed that it takes far less than 2 years to get a response/result🤞 Sorry to hear that the insoles from the orthotic man have caused blisters 😔 & sorry to hear about your DSis, although having a tentative diagnosis should help with getting any treatment she needs 🙏 Lovely support for vulpix & Siebrie 😊
Gers, marvellous idea re old family bibles 😊
Florenceem, another busy day for you yesterday 👏 although I am hoping that you do manage to get some rest today as you will be very busy on Saturday 🙏
Siebrie, I bet your husband doesn’t jumble up his ‘computer screen’ fixing tools 😅😉 Sorry 😞 What a great turn of phrase “chains of clearing up” 👏 Very pleased to hear that you are sticking to your menu plan & ignoring your husband’s requests for different meals 👏 I am in full agreement with the comment from Florenceem - “Stand firm” 😉
Excellent decluttering short_bird 👏 One Gold Star ⭐️ coming your way for passing the 3,500 mark 👏 What a great idea to collect all the repair jobs in one box & get them all done in one session once the box is full 👏
Welcome aboard the EDT ajmoney 👋 Lovely to meet you 😊 I can see that you already have suggestions from several members of the declutterati (flamingo747, wort, QueenJess, Siebrie) so all I will say is Good Luck & happy decluttering 🍀
nannywindow, I hope you are recovering from whatever you have managed to do to your hip 🤞You & DH have been busy 👏 I am sending out a wish to see a photo of your re-covered chairs 🙏 Well done on recycling the large coffee jar - you could so easily have kept it for Justin, Ron or even May 😂 Excellent decluttering 👏
I have caught up one page so will post before I tackle the next page 😉

Argh I lost a post, Breaking news. The squatter has done a runner from my Mum’s house. Just about to go up there and see what it’s like.I have got unpacking fatigue. The kitchen looks like there has been an explosion. Just putting stuff away without much thought now. I will revisit again at a future date.Happy birthday Liverpool Anne. Hugs to anyone who is in need.Vx:16
