Full intentions of continuing to declutter mom's house and I keep looking at the various piles and think "I looked at this a year back and said "nothing for me" so why do I have to look at it again"?? Well it's all down to various brothers being so cautious about what the others might want and can't seem to be definite about what they each might want in case that steps on someone else's toes.
My only vague disappointment was that a year back we had a number of fur coats and now we have none and I've just discovered a local craft person who will use them to make make heritage teddy bears. Think our coats went to a local theatre company so that's ok I guess.
I will have a second look through the bag of jewellery in case there is something there I might want (unlikely)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Morning all. It was supposed to be a quiet week but spent night up with DGS4 being sick - think he has novovirus so on my settee now instead of at school. Couldn't do much in night as load already in washing machine. I confess that oldish sheet and PJs (they were too small anyway) went in plastic bag in outside bin. Duvet cover, mattress liner and towels now in washing machine. Second job of the day will be to give bathrooms a good clean. I had extra children here at weekend so hope they don't all get the bug.
1269 Garden cleanup started and some plants and weeds in bin.

I seem to be slow decluttering although I hadn’t realised. We condensed 2 households into one and have been decluttering ever since. We now live in a 2 up 2 down, you can imagine how much has gone. My aim is to not have stuff in the loft and everything else comfortably accommodated in the house and sheds. The mess in our bedroom is now neatly stacked in the spare room until next month when it will return to sender! There is a box of dolls and a box of ephemera which is mostly Mr V’s and a disco ball for us to accommodate or rehome. The excess bedding has been given away plus a cat bed and some wooden toys. A bag of stuff for the chazzer and 8 rolls of wallpaper being dropped off this afternoon.Mr V needed to get in his studio yesterday. He brought in 4 boxes of stuff from the house clearing bb. (Before builders) Also some lamps and wall pictures. The new to me drawers are still in there but at least he can get at the desk now. I will go through the boxes shortly. The stuff can go back on the walls along with stuff on window bottom. Side tables etc can stay in the shed until the new floor is done in about 3 weeks.Upstairs ornaments etc will stay boxed up until we have had new carpet. That will be after my builder has done some work in the loft on the chimney stack and put new insulation down. Tetris on a grand scale. There are 2 other sheds full to the roof with what was in the old pantry. Kitchen and Christmas decorations I think. One shed is insulated so no rush there. The other isn’t so needs emptying before the contents get damp. That was a brain dump, sorry. It has helped me organise my thoughts though.Total 939

I cleaned out my pantry on Sunday; everything from the 2 shelving units in the garage/laundry room onto the picknick table in the backyard, clean shelves, sort through and refill shelves. I consolodated several catagories, and now have a 'main meal' shelving unit and a 'breakfast/lunch/snacks/baking' shelving unit. Only 2 jars of beetroot out for the foodbank, and 2 Chinese soup bases in the bin (they came in a tgtg pack; I have no clue what to do with them and they were out of date). Oh, and 2 litres of aldi soya milk (dd does not like soya milk, she prefers rice milk; it's all disgustingly sweet to me).

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Sunday was a dry day with some sunshine. DH watched the MotoGP races, I finished watching the last episodes of Line of Duty & DSis watched TV in her room. About 14:30 DSis headed off to As*a car park where a mobile scanner had been set up. Three hours later she returned having not had a scan as she had a scan booked for Monday 🙄 Dinner was sausages, mash, baked beans & chopped tomatoes. Wudupa.
2040 - 2044 Kitchen recycling, newspaper, magazine, drinks cans, cardboard packaging - recycled
2045 - 2047 Kitchen & lr detritus, plastic packaging - binned
Monday is a lovely bright & sunny day with temperatures expected to reach 22C
DH & DSis headed off to the hospital about 10:30 & I got up a few minutes later. I have now settled down with my first cuppa, set the timer & am about to attempt to catch up with the cheerleading 😉
florianatwobob, your DSis sounds like an accomplished decorator 🥳 Shame about the slow cooker meal but fingers crossed that it’s perfect next time 🤞
Lovely post Happy_Kitties 😊 Thank you for encouraging weenancy to rest until she is fully recovered 👏 Excellent number of neutral items despatched 👏 one Gold Star ⭐️ on its way. Also some good general decluttering with 265/500 earning you another Gold Star ⭐️
weenancy, pleased to hear that you were feeling a teeny bit better on Saturday although I am concerned that doing so much will have set your recovery back 😔 I am really hoping that you took it easier on Sunday 🙏 Thanks for the reminder about joining your library 👏
charlies_tribe, what a beautiful area to holiday in - I will have to remember Holywell Bay, Cornwall 😊 Taking care of DGD1 wouldn’t leave you much time to declutter 😉 but well done to you & DH for starting the winter preparations 👏
Lovely supportive post Muddy_Walker 😊 Wow, you did have a busy Friday & Saturday 🤩 Very pleased to hear that you found time to make some more snowflakes 👏 I fell off the sofa laughing at your comment “Drama Queen has now been reinstalled as hubby and has made a start on a ROD!!!!!!!!” 🤣
Florenceem, what a long day for you & MrF but it sounds like the barbecue went well 😊 I am really hoping you had a quieter & more restful Sunday 🤞

Thanks for the suggestions of what to do with the tights! Unfortunately, I can't knit or crochet to save my life (my mum, nan and sister are/were very gifted wool artists but the skill skipped me unfortunately).
OH has now put up our living room shelves so we can get rid of the freestanding display shelving we had our photo frames/nick nacks on and we've moved some furniture around so once we've got the roof on the outhouse fixed we can move our computers out to the outhouse. As we've moved the furniture around and got rid of a few bits in the living room, we now might be able to get a sofa bed in the living room which would make me worry a lot less about the space in the house! At the moment everything is all scattered about. The decluttering aspect of this is that when we get the outhouse sorted I'll need to have a really good sort through of my craft bits and my books. Apart from that there's only really a couple of other areas that haven't been blitzed in either a pregnancy or post partum burst of energy XD To my reckoning the list is:
- Craft boxes
- Bookshelf
- Board games
- Downstairs bar (sounds fancy, it's really just a storage cabinet that my OH bought in America)
- Remainder of the kitchen cupboards
- TV cabinet
We've realised that for two people who barely ever drink we've got a huge amount of spirits open so we're trying to work through them in a safe and healthy manner! I've got plans for some of them - I'm going to use the open rum to soak my Christmas cake fruit for example (probably should have started that already).£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January15 -
Greetings all - I have been absent from this thread too long but now back in the seat. Just had 2 weeks' staycation so quite a bit of decluttering done. DD2 moved out last Tuesday first thing, vacating a bedroom and an office - first guests arrived Tuesday late afternoon so guess what I spent Tuesday doing!
Guests went yesterday then spent 23 minutes decluttering family bathroom. All sanitary stuff has gone to churchVery small Mr T shop as mum and I will be living on freezer and left-overs this week, and probably next too!
23 minutes today - decluttering all my bathroom drawers - gained some items from family bathroom sort, and all sun lotion now binned (hmmm thinks, may retrieve one for trip to Pakistan next month)
Back to work this morning, 900 unread emails - they are now down to 549. Jeez I hate emails!!!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Vulpix - disco ball - just a thought - you could hang it in a sunny window/ceiling so it catches the light and makes pretty patterns. A couple of my friends hung them outside. With autumn in full blow, it won’t be long before the trees are bare and it might look quite pretty outside…⭐️⭐️⭐️🥇🥇🥇 2024 decluttering
