1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Monday is shaping up to be another lovely day with plenty of sunshine & temperatures up to to 26C DH got a call from DSis just to confirm when & where he is meeting her this afternoon/evening. He is now having a bath. I was up at 10:20 & am enjoying my 1st cuppa 🙂 Will go straight into cheerleading in an attempt to catch up 😉
What an absolutely superb post QueenJess 👏🥳 You have not only reminded yourself of how far you have come in less than 8 months but have also illustrated that the S.M.A.R.T. system works 🤩 You not only set your stall out with your decluttering goals but have taken the time to review & refine 👏 I am so impressed that I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ just for this post & have taking the liberty of copying your post to iPad notes with the intention of using it as a template for a concerted decluttering effort in 2024 😊 Thank you so much for continuing to share your Decluttering Journey 👏
Interesting point re jigsaws & books Floss 🤔 I love your solution to both the jigsaws & books - excellent decluttering 👏 so a medal 🏅 is on its way 😊 My relationship with jigsaws is such that I have a favourite artist Thomas Kinkade & just 2 jigsaws which I get out once every few years 😉 I must remember to keep an eye out when I visit the CS 😉
Lovely reply QueenJess 😊 I see that Floss’s idea prompted another thought re making library decluttering easier 😉
weenancy what a marvellous idea for unused wrapping paper 👏 Rather makes me wish I had a huge supply to donate 😉
Excellent decluttering short_bird 👏 Very impressed with the number of deferred decisions you have dealt with 👏
betasam, you are most welcome 😊 & I love the idea that you you have a physical means of reminding yourself - Gold Card Stars 👏 Good luck with the bedroom decluttering 🍀 You will be busy over the Bank Holiday weekend but you have a plan & hopefully OH is on board so should make the redecorating project easier & quicker 🤞I was a bit disappointed that you didn’t find any ‘treasure’ in the handbag 😔 something like a hidden £5 note 😉 Good luck finding your notebook 🍀🍀
Liverpool_Anne, you might have felt it was wall to wall football BUT you still managed a lot of cleaning, tidying & decluttering 👏 I think I would have felt the same way re the empty cans of spray starch - it is not as if they can be utilised for another purpose 😔 One silver lining is that you got to add to your decluttering number 😅
Nice to see you back GrannyKate 👋 Hope you enjoyed your travels 😊 Well done getting your washing done 👏
Deni_debt-free_dreamer, hope the weather stays fine for the last day of your holiday 🤞 Sounds like you have an enjoyable afternoon ahead of you 😊
QueenJess, you sound almost disappointed that you can’t donate wrapping paper 😊
All caught up 🥳 Will see you all later 👋 hopefully with something to report 😉Hope everyone has as good a day as possible 😊
P.S. hope you are O.K. weenancy 🤞

re wrapping paper for presents. I probably have mentioned it before but remnants of wallpaper is excellent for wrapping presents - particularly those larger awkward ones. Granted if you have a couple of rolls it might be better to freegle it instead as there's always someone, somewhere, decorating.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. There are too many pages to catch up on so I just read the past few. I wasn't feeling too hopeful about the football, but I was disappointed that it was quite a dull game as well. I would rather that England went out on penalties as at least that would have made the match more interesting and longer. Oh well.
Apart from that I had a lovely weekend. I saw The Weeknd at Wembley stadium. I was up really high so I didn't drink too much in case I got vertigo and got dizzy. I saw a drunk couple fall down the stairs in front of us, I bet they were going to be extremely bruised the next day! The atmosphere was amazing though and I think it was the best concert I've ever been to. The next night I went to a pop-up bar along the river in east London which was nice too.
I am trying to prepare the bedroom for the carpet cleaner tomorrow. My brother helped my husband move the big chest of drawers and our bed into the other bedroom. We realised we have slept much better since we slept in there as it is much quieter so we are going to stay in there even though it is much, much smaller than our old room.
I have put the two armchairs downstairs to make space as well as my laptop, but I think I will just keep the chairs downstairs. My older cat can't get up the stairs anymore, but as soon as she saw the armchairs she jumped up on one of them so I will keep them downstairs for her to sit in. They are from my old house and she always sat in them.
After the carpets are cleaned we are going to be in the very weird position of having two living rooms and a bedroom with lots of furniture in and a much larger second bedroom with hardly anything in it! I am going to have to think about what to do to make it not look like the bedroom is just a junk room! I could move the fold out out sofa and the desk and my laptop up there and have it as a third living room/office. It is the warmest room in the house so it might be nice to have a room to sit in when it gets cold in the winter.
Decluttering wise I have bought some new bath towels and tea towels and so the old tea towels have been cut up to use as cleaning cloths. I have given a seagrass storage box I don't need to my husband to take to work with him as he can use it in his work office. I decluttered some weeds from the front and threw away the gloves I used. The back garden still looks like a jungle so I have to do that too. All the rubbish and recycling bags are going out tonight as well.

Made it through the storm okay - just having a problem getting the dog to go back outside. She is trying to convince me she can become an indoor dog, but this house is a mess and there is too much she can get into. Plus I am worried about her being attacked by our older cat (she has attacked the dog three times so far). Still worried about British Columbia. Keeping them in my prayers.16

Many thanks Mrs SD for my star, i shall add it to my signature at the bottom.
I should smash through the neutral items target next week. The shoebox hub organiser is coming to collect the rest of the items next week and there is lots and then some!!! I’ve made it more challenging for my total, for example. I have 50 packs of ten pens I picked up really cheap when a certain supermarket was having a reduced to clear. I could count as 50 but I’m going to count as one job lot.
I am slowly boxing and packing up the items as I get boxes and bags, noting totals down to get a final total before handover.
I also had a big storage box full of neutral items, as the neutral items have been coming out, I’ve been popping birthday and Christmas presents (making sure I wrap as I go as I hate wrapping and I always have to send some at the beginning of December ) in so it is keeping things really tidy and as a system is working quite well. The wrapping paper discussion paper reminded me I have 150m of wrap for the organiser so will get that out tonight, that will be countered as one job lot.
Decluttering wise
*195. birthday present-given to friend
*196. Old phone box of DDs in her room, empty and now in recycling

*200. Hate wasting food but bag of rice disposed off when my mums old cat had had an accident on it……or could of been a deliberate act of rebellion considering anything of DMs he insisting on weeing on when she died……sorry tmi🙈Decluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Did a big cake baking session yesterday for today's course. I made a fruit loaf and 2 strawberry & vanilla loaf cakes. We did Tree of Life at SA - had a lovely lunch during the session.
Was called on to do first aid at the course - one attendee who has long gel nails - caught her hand on a door yesterday and half ripped off her real nail. It was catching on everything and after the session - she caught it again so it was nearly off. Brave or foolish woman ripped it off so I covered the exposed nail bed - almost a nausea job.
My sister called by and left us - 10 free range duck and 12 hen eggs.

Oooooo Florence 😳😳😳🤢 I’m a first aider and the only thing (well 2) that make my stomach turn are nails and - oddly enough - heavily pregnant women. One of my Co workers got really really offended when I’d vanish when she “waddled up”……someone had to explain that I’d faint otherwise! How wierd!I ended up carrying a file or clipboard round and block out their bumps so I could actually talk to them.

Decluttering today - sorted out tablets for the week. Calmed down dogs as next door are redoing their roof. Kind of hope they stop soon I’m shattered! Dog 2 needs his mam to hold his paw and comfort him (emotional support snake is having a soak in disinfectant). Dog1 has pinched the best spot in front of the fan.
resolved row with hubby from yesterday.

Trying to weave regular tidying/decluttering into my usual days so that things very slowly improve. At least I have some time to do/think about things I never had a chance to do at the start of the year and I'm finally sorting out my health frogs one at a time. Was a bit annoyed that DS's room is still littered with more stuff than I think he can tidy up, so we had a chat about getting rid of some more stuff if he can't tidy it away. Just started with the random bag of little plastic/paper bags he hoards from anything around to re-use. Also arranged for some Buy Nothing people to pick up tomorrow, I'm halfway through one of the puzzle stash and I started a book pile of things Ziffit will accept.Digital:

Today was glad we kept the dog inside last night as her dog house was moved half-way across the yard by the storm last night. Took four hours to entice her back out though. School was shut for the day, so our Excel class has a different day this week. Other than that, I managed to read four books in the last two days (all mystery cosies). Did get the trash bins emptied today and out. Not much else accomplished.
Hope everyone has a good week.15
