Hi all, I have spent some time today sorting a couple of piles of paper things, mainly into recycling bins and some for filing so bedroom recycling bin emptied and kitchen recycling bin emptied as well as the kitchen bin. I have sorted through a cupboard that had all sorts in and have put aside a few things to go to the cs. I will count them when they have left the house. OH has a funeral tomorrow and I found out a very lovely friend died suddenly, probable heart attack. I think I am still in shock.
@Mrs SD, the mad hair should be no problem, I look like a burst couch most morningsand yes a cockeral and chickens
genius
@nannywindow so glad you have had good news about DNiece, hugs
@Vulpix boo to no goat. Maybe we could buy one and rent it out, sounds like a gap in the market
@Florenceem sounds like you already have a cunning plan. I understand your need to craft but I know if it were me and I had a useable craft room nothing else would get done
. Very envious of the amount of storage you have
@weenancyinAmerica, yes the weather situation is hard to believe though we have been forecast a small respite from the heat and some rain in the next few days but then we are back to sunshine. It was raining for most of the day here but was still warm enough to need the windows and back door open. Brilliant book sale again. The people near you must really love this, great service to the community and as far as I am concerned children can never have too many books
@bit_by_bit beautiful blanket. I can never bring myself to do granny squares, all that sewing up puts me right off
, though I am doing a large granny rectangular blanket atm for OH using up scraps
@Muddy_Walker, I love sempervivums, brilliant little plants
Right better get to bed, hugs to anybody who would like one
839 bedroom recycling emptied
840 kitchen recycling emptied
841 kitchen bin emptied
Take care everyone

@Liverpool_Anne - my condolences and sympathy to you on suddenly losing your friend. It is indeed such a shock when this happens.@Muddy_Walker - lovely photos with some beautiful ideas there. I have an old sink that needs planting up so I shall be referring back to those thank you 😊
@bit_by_bit - that blanket is absolutely beautiful and certainly fits the brief 😍
I seem to be having to redouble my efforts to keep some surfaces clutter free, due to Mr MV absent mindedly abandoning stuff everywhere. He has an extremely high tolerance for clutter and cannot see dust, or cobwebs. He also doesn’t like putting things away, because he says he will only have to get them out again. I don’t like doing housework either but it is necessary and much easier when I don’t have to move lots of stuff first and can keep on top of it regularly.19 -
@stellata mores the pity he wasn't concerned about you being able to do your garden and offer some assistance, as he clearly has a strong opinion/knowledge on gardens. I'd leave it longer now just because and do it right up to the time limits of noise acceptabilty. If you live alone perhaps not a good idea, but would be thinking about doing it

Liverpool_Anne - condolences on the loss of your friend.
Been up since 5.30 - hoovered and washed floor in porch, cloakroom, kitchen & bathroom - so easy and quick when there is no clutter in those areas. Cleaned toilets, sinks and bath.

Morning all. Quite a lot of posts to catch up on so hugs to those who need them and cheering on everyone making progress.
Had an actual week almost at home in my own bed this week and it was bliss. Although having to do housework not quite so much. DH has been keeping on top of things so the house wasn't a complete state but he is a lot like Mr MV @Moorviews where he just puts things down rather than away. Did little bits rather than a blitz of the house so bathroom and kitchen had a good scrub down and dusted in the living room before heading back to my parents house this weekend.
DH and I have spent the weekend as garden laborers. First we went to his grandmother's house and helped FiL clear the garden of all the stuff he'd sorted out from the sheds and then a lovely waste management guy came to collect so we didn't have to trek it all down to the tip ourselves. Then yesterday DH and I cleared most of the first third of my parents garden (it's long and narrow) which had weeds as tall as DH (he's 6 ft 2), you couldn't see the path and there was stuff everywhere. The brand new compost bin is full, the garden waste bin is full and there are garden sacks full that they can empty into the garden waste or compost bin when there's space over the next few weeks. Estimated 20 sacks of stuff gone so will add to the total for their house. We also sorted the stuff (like 3 old roof boxes, old mop buckets, broken fence panels etc.) and put it in a corner ready for my dad to call the same lovely waste disposal guy we had on Saturday. He was about £100 cheaper than hiring a skip of the equivalent size of his wagon and he will sort the stuff for recycling rather than just chucking in landfill.
Still a lot more to do in their house and the garden but it didn't get like this in a day so it won't get fixed in a day either. My mum has been sorting more stuff during the week so another 2 bags of stuff she's taken to the charity shop too. Also helped her with a 🐸 and applied for her bus pass online for her. Online banking code has been requested too so when I'm back next Sunday we can start the next part of that saga.
Looking forward to a nice bath when I get home this evening!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201719 -
I have had such great sleep the past two nights now it has rained and it has cooled down a lot. I've been sleeping with my windows open which makes such a difference to me. I just pegged out the laundry as it is meant to be fairly warm again later.
My friend stayed over on Friday night as we went out together to a concert. He asked me what I was doing for the rest of the weekend and I said I didn't have much to do apart from tidy up a bit. He said I wouldn't have to do much as my house was so tidy! Lol. I don't see it like that!
I am going to do some decluttering today, definitely. I know I have a dress and a chopping board to go into a donation bag so far.:)19 -
