Excellent decluttering of your food cupboard Florenceem 👏 Hopefully the items dispensed with were not favourites 🤞

Liverpool_Anne - the hospital are not testing Mr F - they don't test patients now - only did him as a bed was available in rehab. Mr F is in the same bed/bay and no precautions are being taken. Someone told me that you are immune from catching Covid again for 3 months.
Up early and washing is on.

Unsure what to do about filing. I brought files to my 'office' as moved small not very good i*ea one drawer filing cabinet in another room while carpet being done, I used to have a 4 drawer foolscap one many years ago and do love hanging files as easy and contain things. Any thoughts - my dad had a large sturdy metal one (Scratched and v heavy I could have). Put files in a drawer in bedroom as can't get to cabinet with DD1 things in way and hate looking at them.Emptied out clothes I can't get in and put in storage bag - and will decided on these in the autumn , I like the all but they have shrunk
as I have grown.
Abit shocked at how much stuff I have , and compared to what people had in the 70s. Still ploughing on, another old folder out and some paper declutter, washing etc and know moving around the deck chairs abit but I will revisit these areas, encouraged and abit in awe of how much going on this thread.

Been cleaning the stairs - two bits I can't reach safely so will ask DGS J to feather duster those corners. I didn't realise how dirty the paintwork was until I sat on the stairs with my reading glasses on!Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I am on my own today with no plans so need to get on with things including writing a to do list.
720 2nd manky pillow found to go out as I bought 2 new ones last week
721 DS2 fixed kitchen door as screws had come loose
722 New gate padlocks purchased and keys labelled in cupboard. Spare keys in garage (labelled) and old keys and padlocks binned
723 Extra payment made on energy bill
724 Read and dealt with mobile email frog - no action needed
725 All emails read/filed or deleted then junk and bins emptied
726 New shower stick on shelf fitted as too many bits in old one and they end up on floor.
727 More photos downloaded
728 Checked and there are still lots of late DH's photos on an old programme on computer. I can only screenshot them if I want to keep as files became corrupted and even experts were unable to retrieve original photos. This is a long slow job but I want to get rid of the programme as I am paying £10 a month for it.
729 Sandals ordered from Mr A
730 Caught up on competitions
731 Manual filing done
@TC77 - I do have an old 4 drawer metal filing cabinet which I like. I find it really easy to file away the important docs which come into the drop files. I regularly cull the folders in there so I have only one drawer of filing and everything easy to find. The other drawers contain - stationary, electrical bits (I reduced late DH's electrical mega collection to 2 small boxes all in one place), spare printer inks, etc. I am going to resort soon and hopefully house some of the random stuff lying around the study.

I'd like to join if I may?
Although I'm a bit of a minimalist at heart, there are several things that I have realised recently that I need to get a grip on...I've become a bit complacent about the 'out of sight, out of mind' stuff in the house and with things in the garden that I've basically ignored because the weather has been a bit poop so I've avoided it!
Last week, the weather improved so we 'decluttered' the flower beds in the front garden - it was a massive job and took over 20 hours!! 😳 I'm ashamed that I let it go that far - I had a plan last year to get it done but like many other things I procrastinated and allowed it to get totally out of hand - it's a behaviour that I really need to address and I feel so much better having tackled it that it has inspired me to have a good look around and see what else needs doing!
I have several things that need to be done:
1) Declutter understair cupboard- I have several demijohns full of wine in there that I need to check out to see if they are drinkable or need to be tipped. There's a lot of other stuff in there that needs to be gone through too
2) Declutter the wardrobe in the spare room - it's become a bit of a dumping ground for 'stuff' that hasn't got a home and for some of dd's stuff so I need to go through it with her and get rid of anything that serves no purpose
3) Declutter the back garden - we have a couple of 'storage' areas in the garden which are in dire need of sorting out! I have a load of empty demijohns out there that need to be rehomed now that I no longer plan to make wine so I need to check if the charity shops locally will take them. Other stuff are leftover bits from a variety of different garden projects so I need to dump the detritus.
4) Declutter the airing cupboard - not too much stuff in there but definitely some things that are no longer needed/wanted
5) Declutter the spare room - we changed a couple of our mattresses recently and the old ones are living in there now - I've arranged for them to be picked up by a local charity as they're in very good condition.
6) Declutter about 1.5 stone in weight!! 🙄🤦♀️
7) Organise my kitchen cupboards - I've got a few cupboards that are not working well for me, too much stuff and I'm losing track of what I have in so need to rearrange them
8) Do a tip trip to get rid of broken electricals - my microwave and one of my TV's have broken over the past couple of weeks so they need to be disposed of
9) Do the repair jobs that I've been putting off around the house - there aren't too many but again I have just procrastinated constantly!!
Sorry for the massive post - didn't realise it would turn into a book!! 😳😂DNF: £708.92/£1000

Hello, this thread is so fast moving I can't keep up! Well done everyone on some fabulous decluttering - the pictures are really motivating.
This weekend I have:- Decluttered my emails - now down to just 17
- Made a list of books for sale and sent them to the buyer.
- Cleared out my wardrobe of winter clothes. I still need to go through them and decide what I am keeping/decluttering but it feels so nice ot have room in the wardrobe and to have only current spring/summer stuff in there. I still need to go through shoes and accesories and other random guff that's in there too. That will be my project for the week ahead.
- Got rid of some random bits like and old rug that had seen better days.
13 - Decluttered my emails - now down to just 17
-
Brie - that's a good idea.
Walked into town and got a bus home but as it is a Bank Holiday - I had to walk further as every other bus goes a different route.
Still a chilly wind here off the sea. My washing frame was blown over before I went out.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I've been a busy bee this morning. Welcome @leftatthetrafficlights
It is starting to brighten up now. I have brought the 'too difficult to decide' boxes of papers and photos into daylight in the dining room. I thought there were 8 but there seem to be 10 plus one big one (they have been breeding). I found a home in bookcase for memory tin for late DH and will leave that for now. The others need to be actioned. I have revisited all wardrobes and rearranged children's things and mine. Many things rehoused and/or put away.
I remembered from yesterday:
732 banking updated
733/734 Both lawns cut
735 More potting up of plants
736 Broken charger cable in recycling bag
This morning:
737 Wheelchair cushion to CS bag (I don't have the chair here anymore)
738-740 Three aprons - 1 to CS and 2 to rags - the last 2 were my mother's handmade catering ones going back to 50s and 60s. Time to let them go but some memories brought back
741 King size quilt set to CS (I think 4 spares is enough)
742 Random pillowcases to CS
743 Resorted DGS4's wardrobe - can now hang up some of his stuff which was getting screwed up
744-747 DGS4's t-shirts which are too small - 3 to CS bag and one to rags
748 Took time out to cut up a bruised apple for my blackbird friends - being eaten within minutes
749 Ten items found and put away
750 Nice but useless branded paper bags to recycling
751 Kitchen cupboards rearranged so DS2 can have a high shelf (I can't reach it easily) for some stuff loitering on work surface
752 Odd walking sock binned
753 T shirt to CS bag - nothing wrong with it but I don't find it comfortable
754-756 Cardigans culled from wardrobe. Two to bin and one to CS. I still have 6 in different colours
757 Broken hanger binned
758-759 Two pairs of trousers to CS bag - bother quite new but not keen on them
760 Paper box to tip recycling
761 Bag of textiles for tip recycling
Next plan - tip, charity shop, pop in a store, swimming on the way back
Some memories from this morning's drawer check - they may be familiar to others
Black Magic Chocolates in a tin and hand made hankies in their own bag labelled hankies. I put them back in the drawer.
