GrannyKate - I don't put my washing machine on at night after both mine and my DS's caught fire. I don't put my dishwasher on when I am out or in bed.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Good advice @Florenceem - to be honest I rarely turn washing machine on actually overnight - usually do it in the evening and get stuff out before I go to bed ready to hang out the next morning. Fell asleep on settee, woke up about midnight and didn't check if washing had finished - obviously if I had I would have realised I never turned it on at all. I never use dryer when I am not in and awake.2025 Decluttering Campaign 672/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

My replacement dishwasher takes 5 hours! agree about you're meant to be in when running these appliances but they don't make it easy. Dishwasher must be working at the same pace as my decluttering17

TC77 - surely there is a quicker cycle - I thought mine took a long time - 1 hr 55 mins.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Decluttering at parents house still going on and making tracks with it. DS and DNephew came on Thursday to move some heavy items downstairs for us. DS had another look around and found some articles he was able to take and repurpose some to use up. I fetched little home. Saturday I also did some more declutter along with DB. He just seemed to make more mess in looking for stuff instead of handling it once and discarding immediately. I ended up with 5 white garden chairs and cushions to go with them. These may well be visitors only. Could also be good for someone starting out as the cushions are very comfy. (maybe in the autumn) Got some more useful garden items which will be put to use this weekend. A couple of dog collars to be cleaned up and sent to my chosen dog charity. Family tree stuff has been given to our uncle who is continuing putting it together and off loaded a couple of extra small bits too. I only managed to clean and finish one bedroom too as I had 2 on the list to do. Talking got in the way.
DH has been decluttering from behind the workshop and using up what we have to make a garden gate for access through the fence to the back of the garden. He also managed to have a day out on his bike yesterday due to only being able to ride in decent weather because of his health. A well earned day off for him too
Items from our house seems to have slowed down quite a bit, not yet stagnant but a definite trickle. The general household rubbish bin is full and that is a sub conscious note not to try and overload it which I am prone to doing. We (I) absolutely filled the paper bin and the mixed recycle last week
Am trying to be proactive in not wasting food in the freezer as have only purchased 2 TGTG bags which generated a lot of potatoes.
Have a good weekend all

@Florenceem this is the eco cycle. I assume its the equivalent of stopping for lots of cuppas to not wear something out. I will investigate though. My w/m has a 30 min cycle.16

TC77 - I use 30 min cycle on my washing machine to refresh my SA blouses - they don't really get dirty.
Been out for the first time in 9 days - popped to SA after the service - got a newsletter and magazines. Stayed for a cuppa and cake. They made £312 at the table top sale yesterday.
Spoke to Mr F - he is coughing quite a bit. Got a lift organised for tomorrow.

My room is a mess. Well it's normally a bit of a mess but now it's a right mess. OH has been saying for months that he wants to move around some bookshelves. No problem but it means tidying my stuff a bit and then rearranging some of it on to the shelves. Yesterday he says "I'm doing it today!" and I say "ok I'll get my stuff out of your way!" "No need!!" says he. And then proceeds to ask why I haven't cleared all of this up months back when he first mentioned it as if I've stopped him doing stuff. Anyways - much huffing and puffing was done and lugging about of bookcases only partially emptied. 3 Billy cases full of cds shifted, 1 book case put in place and dvds erratically put back on shelves. 3 more Billy cases full of cds from head to toe still to be moved but I won't let him try to move those without emptying. Last thing I need is for him to keel over mid mess!!! (yes we have a lot of cds, mostly classical music but not completely, some jazz, C&W, folk, ska. OH listens to music several hours every day) (and yes the dvds are mostly redundant but OH seems to think that I said I wanted to keep them for all eternity, even the ones I never would want to watch once let alone twice)
On a more positive note I had to go to the shops so dropped off FiL's old easel to someone who needs it for publicity displays. Sometimes it's easier with Freegle to push stuff out rather than wait for someone to show up to collect.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
