1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off -
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
daisy_1571, still resisting the temptation to watch the George Carlin video 😉 but you have made it hard 🤣
gettingthrifty, again absolutely no need to apologise 😉 So much has happened in your life & with Moorviews, 2Scratters, Liverpool_Anne & Dfw38 all taking the time to share their experiences & thoughts, I think it has helped all of us in some way 😊 I especially liked that Dfw38’s “Finding my reason” inspired you so much 😊 I really do need to take some time & be specific about my reasons for decluttering 😉
Fizz2015, thank you for pointing out that gettingthrifty was not hogging the thread 👏 I really do believe that this ongoing discussion will be of great help to posters & lurkers alike 😊
Crikey Florenceem - you really did have a busy Friday 👏 No wonder your back is aching 😔 Hopefully SiL managed to take everything away over the weekend 🤞
Excellent decluttering florianatwobob 👏 Hope you managed to get your banking frogs dealt with over the weekend 🤞
Blue_Doggy, not quite sure what to say about ex-DH 🤨 so I think I will say nothing 😂 Sorry to hear that you are feeling overwhelmed but as I mentioned, I do believe that this discussion will help us all to start feeling a bit more in control & inspiring us to do some decluttering until we build up our decluttering muscles & can be more ruthless with our Stuff 😊 Sending hugs 🤗
SuffolkSue, your DH worrying if a huge wine rack was only half full 😅
More excellent decluttering Florenceem 👏 I see you are already past day 14 of your monthly challenge 🤩
Soontobeoap, love your post 😊 Like you, I am not sure I could live in the houses you have described 😥 My first thought was that a couple of them sound more like prison cells than homes 😱 I have taken the liberty of quoting you “Knowing what we want to achieve is the first step and being on here with so many normal people who are all striving to do their best is a breath of fresh air. We are getting on with living our lives whilst trying to make life as easy as possible for ourselves” A lovely compliment to all the ‘declutterati’ 😊 Well done on getting so much housework done on Friday 👏 I have noticed that I owe you a Gold Star ⭐️ which is now winging its way to you 🙂
oceanspirit, DH has declined to weigh himself today as he thinks the scales might not be too kind after our weekend of drinking & eating too much 😅 Excellent work on the filing cabinet 👏 I am also very impressed that you are considering getting rid of the small desk now 🙂
Another page 🥳 I won’t be back for a while as DH has almost finished making dinner 😁

I have opened another suitcase - what a lot to sort!
Brie - the shredder is working - I moved it out to the landing and plugged in there! I don't know what was happening in the office as Mr F always plugs it in the multi socket thing. So pleased - thank you.
I found another of Mr F's jackets so have decluttered his old one - taking a full bag of clothing to SA tomorrow for their recycling collection.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Aw thanks for the gold star 🌟 Mrs SD, you have made my day 😀.
Congratulations deni! I cannot wait until I have paid off my mortgage too 🤑.
I have decluttered my old car, eldest dd was crying because she loved it (we have told her it helps the polar bears because we are recycling it...I think we have a potential hoarder in our midst....) and added a new (to me) car and.... she is beautiful and easy to drive and just wonderful and according to 2nd dd her name is Turbo (because that is what it says on the boot). We took a quick trip to a nearby seaside this evening and it was so nice not having to worry if we would need to be towed back. Hadn't realised the stress the old car was causing me to be honest. The money we had for scrapping the car (£320) I have split in 2, 1/2 towards a debt and 1/2 towards adventure. We had chips at the seaside and I am putting the rest towards summer holiday adventures.
Managed to go and get some more plants, made a flower bed in back garden and planted some plants in front garden and started painting shelves in linen cupboard. More to do tomorrow and will declutter and organise them too.2024 decluttering Campaign

Many condolences on the sad loss of your uncle, sadly like my friend last summer sitting in a garden chair with her nail polish beside her. Its hard for those left but possibly the way we would all choose for ourselves
Hugs daisy xx

Re my ex-DH, Mrs SD, he’s been dead nearly twenty years, so it’s really all water under the bridge now. He used to vacuum the place quite happily, but couldn’t be convinced that dust gets under the furniture as well as around it 🤦♀️.A little bit more decluttering for Saturday, yesterday, and today:
- Collected prescription, decluttered bag of residues of previous prescription to pharmacy. (The items (eyedrops in single-use ampoules) are really very wasteful, and there’s lots of plastic. too. 🤷♀️)
- Pulled up several yards of bindweed from front garden, plenty more to come I think.
- Faded flowers removed from tub in front garden (thrown into flowerbed at back of garden in case there are viable seeds).
- Trimmed dead twigs from fuchsia now that the weather seems better and the new shoots look strong enough.
- Cardboard box from delivery to recycling (May B Handy grabbed two smaller ones for Justin).
- Empty bag from pack of dog wipes repurposed to hold small rubbish.
- 2 magazines and 1 newspaper to recycling.
- trimmed dead twigs from shrub in front garden
- Pulled up more weeds
- Put domestic recyclables in bin
- 3 magazines to recycling
- trimmed dead bits off more plants
- Used up 2 more tins from emergency stash, tins into recycling
- Deleted 250 emails, mostly from the “sent” folder
- Weeds removed from back garden to garden waste recycling bin
Best wishes to all.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

@Dfw38 have to say that doesn't look that bad to me, but I know the issue is whether it stresses you or causes unease.
I was going to post earlier and thought I had but don't think it posted, apologies if I am repeating myself.
@gettingthrifty , sorry to hear about the past 7 years, and hope things are easier and you've made a good recovery.
Took 2 bags (1 rags and 1 quality stuff) straight to CS when home today and have 3 bags for the donation hub, and a few things brought back, placemats ( I don't have any), a vintage card index box and small rug - for me, and a few things to give/sell.
Hope folks have manged to relax and/or move things forward, rest and recover if needed. Full on work week (and flower arranging tomorrow - making a crown of purple flowers and diamante ribbon so we will see) so little on decluttering front for me.19
