fritzie-65 said:I know that I have various emotional responses to my buying in the past -
panic , I have nothing to wear to an event , holiday
fear , some one might notice I have had that on before or comment it looks worn
mood , dark clothes in winter to go with my mood , colour in spring - summer
treat myself , had a rough time I deserve a treat.
I know fully this stems from childhood of very very rarely having had anything brand new , hand me downs and second hand and the absolute feeling of shame at what I wore on the last Friday of term when we didnt have to wear our uniform and always feeling shabby compared to the other girls.
But now I have reached an age and I know with the time I have left I will have a blow out now and again buy something for that little girl still inside of me and then when I have had enough of it , fling it, ebay it or donate it because I have the choice and she didnt.
I remember having to wear clothes that were well worn, second hand or hand me downs.
I received a real telling off from my then step dad because I'd begged and pestered my mum briefly for clothing and was told to stop asking.
I wasn't after anything special, was just so anxious and fed up about how threadbare and tatty my clothes were, I just needed my parents to stop putting the cigarettes and weekend cans of beer first and make sure that my sister and I were better looked after.Decluttering campaign 2023

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off -
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedForgot to return yesterday, mostly because I fell asleep after dinner 😔 which was sausages, mash, baked beans & chopped tomatoes. Wudupa.
Wednesday I was up even later 12:30. Brilliant sunshine but very windy & now half an hour later it has clouded over & started spitting with rain. DH has loaded up the bike for his 1st Tip run & has just set off. The large bag of metal bits, the 2 plastic covers from the exercise bike, several tins of paint from his niece M, a plastic rubbish bin full of plastic bits, bag of wood & 3 damaged electronics cases from M. He will also do a small sm shop before coming home & decide whether or not he will do a 2nd run to the Tip. Now whilst I remember, we had a lovely chat with M on Sunday. After being so ill & the difficulties of her sister living too far away to visit her in hospital, she had decided to move back to Kent. Selling her flat was going to be relatively easy as it was a converted house & the freeholder who lives in the downstairs flat wants to convert back to a single dwelling. They just needed to agree a price. Buying a new flat was going to prove problematic as M works full time & relies on public transport or lifts from her sister who also works full time. However M found a flat relatively quickly & her offer has been accepted 🥳 She is so excited & is already making plans to have the kitchen & bathroom renovated & made future proof e.g. walk-in bath, swivel storage in kitchen cupboards etc. So, so happy for her & she will be close to her sister 😊 Of course, this means that I have volunteered to help with M’s decluttering in her old flat in the hope that I build up my decluttering muscles for my own decluttering 😉 🤞 14:00 DH is back & because it is so windy has decided against a 2nd Tip trip 🙂
retiredinfrance, Thank you for your kind words & our medals which I have already added 👏 😊
TC77, you are welcome 🙂 Well done on your 2 lots of 23 minute decluttering 👏 Sorry to hear that DD1 is so stressed 😥 Is there anyone to complain to about the shambles re the PiP assessment? I take it that DD1 is not a clutterbug 😉 Excellent decluttering & moving frogs along 👏 I understand the issue with clothes 😉 my bugbear is t-shirts - I have many that I am happy to wear (I am a scruff-bucket 🤣) but are not suitable for CS & I am very reluctant to pass on as rags 😔 Hopefully one of our fellow declutterers will offer some useful ideas or suggestions which might strike a chord for both of us 🤞
~FlowerPot~, thank you so much for my flowers 👏
DundeeDoll, sadly no chance of that as she has been rather unpleasant for years. Neighbour G & I have even given up saying hello to her as she passes by as never get a response of any type 😔 Now that my upset has abated somewhat all I can do is feel sorry for her & try to completely ignore her 🤞 Wow you have been busy 👏 so many rooms decluttered & tidy - one Gold Star ⭐️ on its way & I hope it arrives before you head off to Canada 🙂 Fingers crossed that you get a bit of free time to explore Canada as it is a beautiful country🤞Also I hope the weather is kind when visiting Edinburgh with your friends 😊
Floss, thank you so much for sharing your ‘How to Deal with Excess Clothing’ tips & ideas 👏 I think you covered all the bases so I am awarding you a medal 🏅 I am especially delighted to read that your coat ended up in Australia 😊 a globe trotting coat 😂
oceanspirit, more excellent tips re dealing with clothing clutter 👏 Also thanks for the lovely reminder of how beneficial decluttering is 👏 One medal 🏅 coming your way 🙂 Excellent decluttering 👏
One medal 🏅 coming your way fritzie-65 🙂 as a big thank you for sharing your life with us 😊👏
Excellent paperwork decluttering ~FlowerPot~ 👏 One medal 🏅 coming your way 🙂 As to your sisters research notes etc - is there a radionics Society that might find them useful? Sadly I am not surprised that your DH thinks that anything he is interested in & owns is not clutter 😉 Hope the weather perked up enough to get out in the garden 🤞
charlies_tribe, pleased to hear that there is no set timeline - means that you are decluttering with no pressure so it should be easier 🤞 Excellent decluttering 👏
Pennypincin, so sorry to hear how difficult your childhood was 😔 Unfortunately some people do ‘struggle’ with parenthood & yes I am being very polite in my description 😉
The weather here has taken a turn for the worse - sun has fled, bitterly cold, sky has darkened & it is raining ☹️ DSis provided lunch - a cold buffet but very tasty - I hadn’t realised I was hungry 😉 It’s so cold & even though I have plenty of clothes on I have succumbed to turning on the heating 😔

Thank you Mrs SD for the medal, i feel a bit lmore like im on it today I have a end goal in sight and decluttering is the best way forward to seeing this goal get closer.I am involved in the radionics assocation and I dont think her notes would be wanted to be honest, its probably me who would get the most from them, so Ive thinned them out a bit and kept most, they are all now safely stored. DH is going through her singles collection. they both sharded a love of the same music and her husband didnt want any of the singles so 1000s came our way. Now enough time has passed that we can begin to go through it with a bit less emotion!!♥️ ♥️ ♥️🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸Decluttering 2025 So far 403 / 2025

Ah the delightful finds! I came across an old folder that I put cards in - some received, some unsent.
I've sorted through them and set aside a few in the disposal room for the charity shop. A few odd postcards bought in Canada, one with stamps, an insufficient amount by a long shot now, have been put with my passport for my next trip over there - to give away or send. Some cards from friends and family which have mostly been tucked away (unless from dreadful ex-SIL which I should burn to properly cleanse the house).
And a few postcards I've put with my art stuff. Including (why???) a photo of James Dean with a very very large pig. I've been trying to sketch the pig. I'd try to do James Dean too except I know he'd probably end up looking like a pig too.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I've been extremely wiped out since Saturday. It's very strange but ever since the CBT practitioner said she thinks I've got PTSD its like my body has said 'Good! we can stop pretending now!". Consequently I've been sleeping a lot, crying a lot, "snapping" a lot
- the most overwhelming feeling is exhaustion though. I managed to get through the last couple of days at work by resting whenever I got the chance. One more day at work to go and I can rest properly.
I summoned up enough energy to take a couple of bags to the CS today. And a bag to the textile recycling point.
Tasks:
Bags to CS
IN (running total 73)
74. Storage Box
OUT (running total 310)

I think I last posted on Monday when I got home from the hospital. I slept for nearly 12 hours that night.
I went back to the hospital on Tuesday at 11am and when I went to A & E - Mr F had gone onto a ward. The visiting time was 2 - 8 but they didn't throw me out - Tuesday was Mr F's Birthday.
When I got there - he was brighter and sitting in a chair. He ate his food and was doing well. Our friend came - she is tiring - talks non stop. Mr F got tired about 6.30 so got into bed. He started to get confused then - said he had messed the bed - he hadn't - went on the commode and said - what a mess - nothing - sorry tmi. I am starting to think that there is something seriously wrong.
My friend took me home again - I was so tired after being in the hospital for 9 hours.
Our SA officers came and prayed for Mr F.
I hadn't done any decluttering as not been home for much of the time.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I did the washing and ironing last night - I struggled to get off to sleep.
Got up early for me - in the shower at 6.40am.
I took a load of stuff to the charity shop as soon as it opened. Did some tidying before I went to visit Mr F.
I was shocked when I went in the ward - he was in bed being fed by a nurse. He hadn't been up in the chair and was not speaking. They took him for a brain MRI but couldn't do it as he refused to go in the machine.
I was there for 5 hours - not a word from him. I fed him his evening meal. The only sound he made was a couple of laughs.
A nurse told me that the Neurologist was handing him on to Psychciatry. Then the Consultant Neurologist came to see me and didn't know about the first seizure so apparently there were two. After talking to me - he has changed his mind and wants to do further tests on Mr F which may mean being transferred to another hospital. It is much further and more difficult for me than the local hospital. Someone came after the Consultant and took lots more blood specimens.
Our talkative friend didn't visit today - I text her to say that I think 2 visitors for a long time tires Mr F out. She wasn't feeling well so wasn't going to come anyway - she tires me out!
Our SA officers came to visit and pray and took me home which was lovely as the weather is bad here.
I am going to get into bed early.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
