No time to do another update from my declutter activities following losing a long post but I am reading along.So sorry to hear of your dad’s frailty @Dfw38 that sounds like a really tough situation.@Mrs_Salad_Dodger - I hope Mr SD is comfortable and can get some sleep on the ward. Thank you for your updates, please take care of yourself.@GrannyKate - that’s so good that your scans aren’t showing anything untoward. Hopefully that is a weight off your mind.
@roundtuit - it’s good that you felt you were able to tackle Sweetie’s cage. It’s never easy to do these things but sometimes you just know that the time is right.I dare not check back in case I lose this as well but hugs for anyone that needs them and thank yous for all the inspirational decluttering activities, whether digital or physical.14 -

I miss a day on here and all sorts of things happen. Take care Mrs. S_D and virtual hugs for Mr. S_D. Our get-together last year was the highlight of my year.
Hugs for DfW also. I still remember how I felt when my father's doctor told me not to plan on making the trip for Pearl Harbor Day as she was sure we wouldn't be able to take it (she was right - my father died two months before then). But it was so hard dealing with the news.
I was missing yesterday because we had our monthly book sale. Raised $306 even with giving children's books away free. One of my co-workers told someone that they could take one of the carts of children's books to the car and download the whole cart as long as he brought the cart back - and he did. When we started the sale, there was a class from a local elementary school visiting the library with parents and teachers and we let all of them pick out free books as well - 45 kids. Still have several cart loads to go. We will need to restock our Book Store in the library this next week. And we have at least 5 boxes ready to go to the county jail for their reading program (mainly paperback fiction). I took four boxes of books from the house and a bag of books from my sister's house - and only brought about a dozen books home - eight of them for relatives. So not too bad. And three of the books I will read and return for the next sale. We had the perfect weather for the sale. It rained the day before and is cold and cloudy today, but it was sunny and warm for the sale. Tomorrow it is supposed to start raining again for the next three or four days. We have had almost twice our normal rainfall this year already.
Stay warm and dry everyone.

Hi all, very little done in the house today as the sun was out so I spent some time in the garden. A small tidy up and a long sit writing a shopping list
but just being outside cheers me up. OH came home with coffees and ln joined us for an over the fence coffee and bailies for OH and ln, I rarely drink alcohol due to diabetes. It did start to rain but we got the brollies out as it was still quite warm but my shopping list was washed away
. Just did some crochet when I settled after tea.
@Dfw38, hugs,
@Mrs SD hoping Mr SD is not fretting too much being away from home and you are getting lots of rest between the hospital visiting, hugs
@grandmanerd you are a marvel.
@weenancyinAmerica amazing book sale. I hope the gentleman who took the trolley load managed to get them into the house okand his children love them. What a lovely thing that you also had a class full of children visiting as well. We had very few books in the house when I was a child and I remember well my first visit to the library, my Mum took me when I was about 9 and signed me up. Once the librarian realised I was really reading the books I was allowed to borrow more than 1 at a time so I didn't have to treck into town every week. The selection of children's books was very small though and I was soon rereading them. When I got my first saturday job at 13 one of the first things I bought was a book
. Reading is still one of my favourite things to do
.
Off to bed now, hugs to anybody who would like one
Take care everyone

I've only just spotted this thread, is it too late to join for 2023? I really need a boost to push our decluttering. In my money saving ambitions I have accumulated lots of things over the years! Our eldest is just about to buy his own place, other son at Uni and youngest DD will hopefully soon be going to Uni. Husband recently went part time, with a view to retiring as soon as we can afford it. Downsizing is therefore on the horizon. It would really help me to focus on decluttering if I could join in here, to keep me focused and motivated 😁

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks to include MMiM - do this before I go to bed
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off -
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with ‘Urgent’ daily mail immediately & the rest at the weekend
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Saturday continued. I left the house about 13:25 after making DSis a cup of tea & taking it up to her as she had another splitting headache ☹️ Caught bus to As*a to buy DH a new pair of tracksuit bottoms then decided to get the bus to the hospital - avoiding the myriad stairs at Shadwell & Whitechapel 😉 A bit of a walk from the bus stop to the hospital but I was on DH’s new ward by 15:10. DH is now on a 4 bed ward with a window to the outside world 🥳 The good news kept on coming - it appears DH had had a false positive; he had managed to have a shower; only on a heart rate monitor; BP being taken manually by nurses every few hours (DH has a healthy BP 🥳); registrar advised after discussions with the specialist doctors, that DH has an Atrial flutter; one of his meds stopped completely & the other double the dosage. If the medication works quickly & stops the Atrial flutter DH MIGHT be allowed home Sunday afternoon 🤞Whilst I was there he had one BP reading & an ecg reading + the needle/tube for IV fluids was removed 🙂 So fingers crossed everyone 🤞One other thing, I had registered 2,400 steps on DH’s watch 😉 DH is also happy that when the meds are working fully he will be able to resume walking with the full blessing of the doctors 😊 I left about 18:15, walked to the bus stop & although I had a 15 minute wait for my bus, I was home by 19:05. In other good news DSis cooked dinner for me roast chicken & roast potatoes 😋 I wudupa.
827 - 831 Kitchen recycling, newspaper, plastic bottle, cardboard box, paper packaging
832 Kitchen detritus binned
So all in all DH & I are quietly optimistic that he will be allowed home on Sunday BUT if not, Monday at the latest. Both of us are relieved that he now has a diagnosis 👏
Posting this at 06:15 as I woke up after a couple of hours sleep & decided to have cocoa 😉
Again thank you all for your kind thoughts & good wishes 😊
