Thanks to everyone who pitched in with advice re the photos. I have taken everthing mentioned on board. One of the reasons I don't want to just bin them (even thought i dont want them) is because they are snapshots in time. Even though some of them are only 20 yrs old, in 30 years time when they are 50 yrs old people might be more interested in looking at them from a social/historical point of view. I might try to find out if there is anywhere that archives old film photographs, before I make any rash decisions.
On another note, through trial and error, have discovered that the cat will only take his tablet if it is wrapped in smoked salmon!Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can

Very appropriate for the weather that jigsaw @GrannyKate
All that snow must have been tough to put together.
So yesterday afternoon I went off to see DD in Manchester. Took DS2 to see his parents. He stayed there. I stayed with DD who was still in bits after boyfriend went back to Canada. Had lots of hugs, tears and helped to clean up and reset the place.
This morning she felt better so I headed home via in laws. Took BiL for a small shop and then headed home.
Popped into see vulpix and observed that beautiful tall boy. So skilled. I was able to pass on some packaging materials for the mass sort outs going on and took some bric for the CS.
Also had a good catchup and one of those special hugs you get from great friends.
I would like to report a bag of toys and books out to DS3 and a car seat yesterday before I left Derby. The babies have grown out of a small one so a large seat has been fitted in the car. The small one is only a year old. Serendipitously I bumped into someone from a long time ago who can pass it on. ( I am counting the car seat as a large item.)
On the way home I also managed to deliver my soft plastics whihc had been in the car for weeks to a supermarket for recycling.
Take care all. Off to sort some photos now.

Mrs SD, the hall now has DD1's v large bike and the phone seat as well as existing furniture , and bags to go various places.
Lovely day off work with meal out and exhibition and popped in the Algerian Coffee shop in soho as I'd phone and spoken to a lovely lady about trying to get a coffee pot I'd found at my dad's mended. I thought there were bits missing but seems all there but stuck together - she skilfully got them apart but pointed to some 90s pots and said she thought it would be like those.
My dad brought it back in about 1950 from a cycling trip London to Italy, and in last year or two of his life looked back at photos as a big trip for him with his friend and his girlfriend joining for abit. Anyway I need to clean it up and then can hopefully use it. Advised to use dilute vinegar solution and low heat as aluminium. Counts as a frog and a jumper out 40218 -

@Mrs S_D - when I was a Girl Scout, they made us take salt pills when we went out for long walks. Glad Mr. S_D is out walking though. Crisps to carry along sound good.
@GrannyKate - I love to hear that you sent for the certificate. It is amazing to me that people on Ancestry.com and on FamilySearch just try to do their research from what is in the indexes - I keep stressing the importance of going for the original document. There is so much more available that way. People could save weeks of work if they would just look at the originals as they go. I am finally convincing the person I work with on Thursdays of that. Especially after we found that some of the original christening records for her relatives gave the birth places and fathers' names for both parents. Changed her research direction completely in a couple of cases - all of that wasted time tracing the wrong lines. When I was first starting I would save as much as I could to order at least two documents a month - made it so much easier in the long run. This was back before computers. Some of the originals we can get now in the US, but not the British ones of course. So these still need to be ordered - well worth it.
Actually it will be just me and the dog at my sister's house this weekend - her dog not mine, thank goodness. Her dog is old and she doesn't want him to stay alone. Usually her boy friend's sister, who lives with them, would be there but she is visiting family in Mexico City while my sister and BF go to Las Vegas. Plan on resting and writing this weekend.
Still haven't got everything moved - mainly because of lots of guppies that need to be transferred to a holding bowl while their regular tank is cleaned and brought down stairs.
Got a lot of decluttering done from one stack in the living room today. Female roommate, who is on the autism spectrum, and can't seem to get rid of things easily, needed to go to her job today (after two months off), and couldn't find one of her shoes (part of the uniform). Filled up three bags of trash and boxed up three boxes of books and CDs, DVDs, while looking for the shoe. After she gave up looking, I looked where I told her to look originally (under the dog toy beside the chair) and lo and behold - there it was. So she made it to work with the complete uniform. Made her wash it yesterday.
Fixed breakfast for roommate home from the hospital while I fed the dog and cats this morning. Lucky I didn't get them mixed up at this point. Going to send someone out for dinner this evening.
Had my two online classes this morning also - PowerPoint and Mobile Technology. Fortunately the cat woke me up early as I am trying to get the bathroom downstairs with the shower ready for the Health Nurse to help with G's shower tomorrow. The dog had been in there on a stormy night and tore apart a stuffed toy of hers so still sweeping up lamb stuffing. Boy those toys hold a lot of stuffing when they comes apart. Still need to sweep the rest of the house so it looks decent and clean the sink in the bathroom (toilet almost clean enough - used vinegar on it this morning). Also need to make sure the shower floor is good. Tomorrow am staying home to clean instead of going to the library.
Next week is our library book sale again - and we are going for a clear-out of the children's books as we have boxes waiting downstairs. So this time, children's books are going to be free. Will need to be at the library every afternoon next week to get our carts ready for the sale. Have four people coming in to help me who actually do help (have a couple who just show up and do nothing). We have people calling the library asking about the sale so the word is getting around. The city posts the sale dates on the city web-site. We also have a couple of teenagers who come regularly who post it on their Facebook pages. We appreciate all the publicity we can get.
Stay warm everyone.

Hi all, very cold this afternoon and we got sleety snow but it didn't stick. I finally got the information for OH re hospital appointment, after trying the numbers several times I went back to the receptionist and explained and she put me through to the department secretary. Could have done that the first time I spoke to her but I expect she's either not supposed to or doesn't usually have the time. Anyway all sorted. I folded and put away the dry washing and the kaftan type things are on the maiden. I decluttered a net bag thing that I used to carry washing up and down the stairs. It's been dying for a few months but the handle snapped today so it went into the bin. I have found a replacement but it is a bit too big so I will have to search for something else to use. After lunch I had to have a lie on the couch as I felt so tired and I fell asleep. I was a bit disconcerted until I realised I am 3 weeks away from my b12 jab on top of still dealing with the lurgy.
OH had a parcel delivered of things to make various curries, individual bags with spices etc for different curries. I did point out that we have most of the ingredients in the cupboard. Ok I don't have fresh lime leaves but just about everything else, but I didn't pay for it but I know they will sit in the kitchen in the delivery box for a while although I did get a Rogan Josh for my tea without the chilli. I didn't mention I make this quite regularly
@grandmanerd brilliant organisation of photos, I have taken notes, although like TC77 I found my parent's photos too late to ask but there really weren't that many that I couldn't recognise luckily. I do have a photo of a Grandmother, I think my Dad's Mum, playing football in her wrap around pinny over an ankle length dress. It was a thing here during WW1 to provide entertainment and raise money to send things to the men on the front
@D123456789 I got the kindle version of that book, I am still on week 1
@QueenJess, I can relate to digital decluttering being boring. I am looking at emails and saying "why do you keep sending me this dross?" No matter how many I delete and unsubscribe from they just keep coming
@gettingthrifty have a great long weekend and bask in the glow of having finally got rid of that frog
@Vulpix, the tallboy is a thing of beautythough I can see you have a lot of work to do on the rocker
@Mrs SD the box of toys are back on the top shelf but Ted is sitting looking at me
@Muddy_Walker good advice about the crisps. When I was supervising DofE groups I always included crisps in packed lunch list
@TC77 I have a newer version of that coffee pot but I rarely use it now as I have a cafetiere but it is great when I am camping
@weenancyinAmerica, I hope the weather improves for your book sale and you can give away all your children's books. What a great thing to do. Look after yourself.
So only
509 washing bag binned
510 washing sorted
Take care everyone
