Hi all, I'd love to join you if there's room!
I won't be focusing too much on it in January - I've already earmarked that for building on my exercising - but I would definitely enjoy slimming down on what I own with you all
I don't have hoards of stuff.. but definitely a bit more than I'd like. Some bits that belong to my ex are taking up room - I'll at least, ahem, request they are shifted in January
I am just learning how to make a house a home, so this thread seems golden... honoured to be here.
Let's get chucking!!21 -
@weenancyinAmerica I love the idea of drawing a map & then colouring it in18

coo 29th already - have caught up on all your posts, what a busy group, very inspiring. Before Christmas I reclaimed my bedroom, which meant moving the boxes still to sort into my home office. Starting 27th Dec I'm spending 22 minutes a day sorting, and guess what, I'll up to 23 minutes per day come 1st JanuaryMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Yes, yes, yes, I’m in! I’ve made a start already with about 3 black bags gone and some things piled ready for car boot in the Spring. Kids are on board too now they’re a bit older which is helpful and I’m determined to be ruthless this year! (Yes I have tried before and yes I am a bit of a hoarder- I blame it on being a teacher🙈)21

Hi everyone!
I'd like to join this challenge as I'm a terrible hoarder and we just have too much stuff everywhere. I've read through all the fantastic advice and I think I'm going to aim for 2023 items but also break it down into small areas to tackle. I've already decided that area number one is going to be the cupboard above the kettle which has so many cups and glasses and various other random carp that things keep falling out and breaking! It's one way to decide what goes, survival of the sturdiest, but I think it'd be better to just sort it out and work out which things I like the most and keep those.
Good luck everyone. 😀22 -
I have a garage of doom and a attic of choas to declutter this year.

Hi everyone
Both my DDs have now left home (sobs quietly) . DD2 's bedroom still has some of her stuff but is tidy and organised. The smallest room is a cluttered mess - bedroom/dumping ground. I have a half filled shed, a garage full of stuff and a loft full of stuff. Plus stuff in many other spaces!
My targets for this year are:
1- sort out the small bedroom to include an organised work space. I am starting a new job on tuesday which is more local to where I live with fewer evening meetings so I have a better work-life balance. At my old job we had hot desks so I got used to not having much stuff as I only had a locker and a cupboard so I want to continue with a clear desk policy for both my home work space and office space.
2 - clear out and dismantle the shed
3 - clear out the loft
4 - clear out and organise the garage
5 - return my bedroom to a tranquil space (i achieved this last April but it has crept back into being a bit cluttered)
6 - make my house sellable. I had my house up for sale in 2020 but took it off the market after a few months. I still want to move but I need to sort clutter and small house jobs first. I have made progress this year including a new flat roof over the porch and getting the outside repainted so I need to continue in the right direction.
Welcome aboard to all newbies.
Thanks always to Mrs S_D for all her encouragement.

Going to join for the first time, woohoo!
I'm a bit of a hoarder, have big ideas but don't follow through with them. The house is a tip and we have new bedroom furniture coming on 10th January and need to sort out a lot of stuff before so that it can fit!
Yesterday, beloved managed to help me hugely with all my sewing and craft stuff, and I now have things corralled, ready for the arrival of a blanket box to store them in.
Every room has too much stuff in it, we don't always know what we have and we know we don't really need any more books, clothes, shoes, etc.....
So, I'm going to be bold and go for 2023 items 🙂

I know it's not 2023 yet but I've already made a start. Today I've decluttered some toiletries that have been sitting in a bathroom drawer for months, some bathroom gadgets and two pairs of jeans. I'm also defrosting the freezer and I've ordered some storage boxes that I'm going to use to organise my TV unit cupboards.2023 Mortgage-Free Wannabe #19: £11,675.68/£13,000

I have started so will count what I have done.
1-4 shredding done as DH has had a clear out at work.
5-17 various brochures/ instruction booklets mostly that DH decided we no longer need. We always Google if we need instructions.
18-19 pair of curtain poles finials.
20-21 pillowcase and sheet with holes in
22-23 pot and sturdy box to shed so DH can sort the shed out.
24 wool insulation that came with a gift of cheese by post to greenhouse to wrap around a pot.
A good start made and now less than 2000 to go.
