This sounds great! Brillitant to see people have already made a start.
I've booked my slot for next Tuesday at the tip ready for week one recycling.... I'm going to start with cosmetics/toiletries and am going to estimate finding 7-8 kilos that needs to go. Some things will be over 10 years old.
I managed to delete 1800 emails yesterday. Ironically, 1600 of those were MSE Forum notifications, so I have now adjusted my notification settings there, but on the bright side, that job took me 2 minutes and has made a big impact.
49,378 emails to go!
2023 kilos of stuff to clear....

Would love to join please.
Having spent 4 days in October decluttering the kitchen, it’s so much easier to keep it clean & tidy - just need to start on the rest of the house now 🏠20 -
Fantastic thoughts @daisy_1571 and so right.
I get overwhelmed easily so that do one thing is a great starter. An envelope into recycling may not seem like a big thing but can be huge. Getting exited that you just got rid of something small is not pathetic. Its a great start.
Thoughts on getting rid of Christmas decs to the charity shop: please check if they want it. They often cannot store it and if they cannot sell it within the next few weeks they will bin it. I have a box under the bed for seasonal stuff. Currently full of spring/summer clothing.
I know not everyone can store stuff or can stand it being around once mentally disposed of; just a thought for those who can.
Have a great day all

@Brie I want to go through my xmas decs and throw out most of them. Do you have any links on how I can find a group to donate to?
5 & 6 - Two tatty shower scrub brushes binned.
you could try googling ukrainian in your local area. Or post on NextDoor or a local facebook group. Alternative is contact your local council team that deals with refugees. Failing in all those check if the local foodbank or charity shops are willing to take the decs knowing that they'll need to be stored for the next 10 months at least. Of course the foodbanks may also be aware if any of their "customers" are ukrainian or eastern orthodoxI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Brie, I don't know what's in your area but there are scrap stores which pass on to charities and organisations which need craft supplies. I have used them in the past when making Samba costumes. There is one shop that I know of in Banbury which is open to the public, there must be others. Am in a hurry just now so don't have time to look it up for you, sorry. Vx:19

Morning MrsSD,
Thank you for starting this decluttering challenge and it is never too early! I would like to join please as my ‘stuff’ is taking up valuable space not only in my cupboards but in my head too, so, 2023 is the year that my house becomes my home. I know that I can do it this year with your help and support and the help, encouragement and support from fellow forumites. Together we can do this! Also going to do the 1p savings challenge so by the end of 2023 I will have a decluttered home and savings to spend…but definitely not on more ‘stuff’ for my home! I will spend my savings on an experience to congratulate myself for finally decluttering my house. Thank you so much again and I look forward to reading your, and fellow forumites, posts during 2023. 😊19 -
