Good evening.Thank you once again Mrs SD for cheerleading.I realise that I have missed loads of posts. Happens regularly so I apologise for not commenting where I really should have. Muddywalker,it sounds like the best of both worlds for your volunteering, enjoy.GrannyKate , I have dropped the book off. I was very surprised at the cost of conserving and mending the book but thinking about it,it is a days wage to do the work. She tells me there is a 4 months wait.Siebrie I know you holiday in the UK sometimes. I would recommend Buxton and all of the Peak District, it is a national park with plenty to do and see. Also very accessible to Manchester and Sheffield.Thank you everyone for good wishes for MIL.LiverpoolAnne, MIL has been at this point many times before and seems to have received good care. I will say though the nursing my Mother received last year was appalling. It pains me very much to criticise the NHS as I was a nurse myself.Energy shifter, your son and you have moved mountains and how lovely to hear that you received exactly the help you needed. ❤️
queen Jess. Well done. Give yourself a great deal of credit for your accomplishments.Nice to have you back bit by bit. XVx:18 -
Thank you so much Mrs SD for my 2nd medal. The insurance claim is still ongoing but it is becoming a part of daily life so I am going to hand my boxing gloves to someone else and step back into the decluttering carriages. Tomorrow I have told DH that we are doing the wardrobes. I wonder what we will find in the back of those!

This thread moves so fast, I am feeling a bit behind with the thread and decluttering! I sorted out 2 external hard disks and decluttered 2 faulty ones to the bin. I also went through all my emails and got those sorted, archived and deleted. We have a drawer in the TV unit so I cleared it out and have binned some faulty cables, donated duplicate ones for old electronics, and have a few more bits for eBay selling - someone paid £20 for my Office 97 CD last week which I thought was bonkers!
This week I'm going to work through the sewing supplies I inherited from my mum's house and organise them, as they've been in a pile in my spare room for several months now and need to be integrated into my current supplies. I also decluttered old pants and socks because I'm fed up with wearing tatty old stuff when I have new replacements waiting to be used. Only have a few toiletries to be tested out now, the stash will probably take another year or so to get through but it's now almost all my regular products.
I watched Stacy Solomon and loved it, it's a shame you can't binge watch the whole series. This week I've had a big push on getting my life admin tasks completed, and it has paid off and I feel like I'm finally getting ahead and not just ignoring things until I really have to deal with them."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." I’m ignoring the slightly too full next size up clothes in DD’s room where I shoved a dressing gown and socks/vests behind the boxes and enjoying the minimalist rest of her wardrobe. It looks so calming now!15 -
They have a book stall at the church where I went for the holocaust service. I was looking and one of the Church ladies said - have some - no charge to you. I had told Mr F that I was not going to get any books but - I got 4. Then when I got home - I found that one book was the second part of a story so I needed to read that first - so bought it second hand from wob. Next I looked at another one of the books I had got and it was number 2 of a trilogy so that was another 2 books ordered. Don't know what happened but - there was a buy 3 get the 4th free so .......I have 8 books ordered.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Evening all, got to catch up on posts so forgive me if my replies are a mess!
@QueenJess I love a dramatic transformation too, psychologically it feels like a more effective result.
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger I really hope I am not responsible for a kiwi crush revival....🤣 not the legacy I would like to leave behind me!
@Soontobeoap I might join you in the padded carriage with punchbag.
@weenancyinAmerica you might be right about the colours, I had a look online and I am an autumn and I also love olive green 😂
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and support re my dad and siblings. Long story short my dad has unexplained facial bruising. The carer at the care home has said she was a little rough to her supervisor but we are talking about a black eye, my dsis found out Monday, I only found out Thursday and told my dbro. He has gone to visit my dad today and taken photos and talked to house manager. An investigation hasn't been started yet, I have told my brother that adult social services need to be involved as do the police because my dad is non-verbal and immobile he cannot tell us what happened.... dsis is unfortunately trying to get her claws into the house/dad's money, she lives there and is trying every trick in the book. This is the sister who 6 hours after my mum died suddenly and unexpectedly was asking when we could sort through her jewellery,so you can tell the type of person I am talking about.
I was so stressed about it last night I ended up with chest pains.
My family has become like a Christmas special on Eastenders.
Need to read some more posts and I will be back.2024 decluttering Campaign

Well I got 1 piece of furniture picked up so far… still lots to go. It feels exhausting dealing with all this stuff! I convinced DH I’ve just made everything so much better and I know best, so he agreed to eject more stuff. So more storage boxes and furniture listed on Buy Nothing.Whilst I was taking out all the spare bits from the furniture we were getting rid of, I convinced DH to sort out the whole box of “household stuff”. Lots more stuff gone. That’s 1% of the garage done 😂. DH needs me to be able to declutter so it’s exhausting as I do the rest of the house as well.
Thanks for my stars @Mrs_Salad_Dodger . I feel like I really deserve being able to put my feet up now and watch Stacey from yesterday. I love how lovely she always is with everyone and so positive. The carpenter is also ace… I love it when people build things to solve problems.

Thank you @Moorviews, I just want my dad to be looked after. His needs were too complex for him to live with us, although I did offer to get additional care as well as my caring for him and I live a 200 mile round trip from where he is so visiting isn't done as much as I like and I don't want my dc to see his deterioration so I cannot visit when the dc are around which is pretty much all the time as dh works 6 days every week and some weeks 7 days!
Sorry to hear about your mil @vulpix, hope she has a swift recovery. Sorry to hear you have also been through similar to my current family situation.
@brie you are right there, it is amazing how siblings who have grown up together can be so different. Thankfully my dbro is in agreement with me (first time That has ever happened) but my dsis is basically after everything for nothing when my dbro and myself just want dad to be safe and the financial side isn't even something we consider ours.
Excellent decluttering numbers @QueenJess!
I love the cutlery @stellata
I think we have a colour agreed on by both dds and it is: lavender quartz..... wahoo!
Thank you for the hugs @bit_by_bit, I will gratefully take all those hugs that are offered. Times like this I really wish my nan was still with me, she was my favourite person as a kid (and adult to be honest!) and if she didn't know what to advise she would just sit there with her arms around you and it was like the world stood still and you just knew that you would get through anything because she was there with you. Oh well I have a snotty nose 2 year old now who does that!
Excellent decluttering going on, thanks again for the support. I am having a cheeky fried chicken finger licking good dinner as a treat (that's not going to help the 2 and a half stone weight loss aim... but stuff it today) and I I going to get my head in gear and try and decide what on earth to do. It is tempting to just wash my hands of the whole sorry situation, I don't need the stress or aggravation, I have young kids who need my focus on them and also don't need me stressed and grumpy..... but, I have to live with myself for the rest of my life and I just cannot bring myself (much to dhs disagreement) to leave my dad at the hands of manipulative people who want to use him/his estate as a freeloading opportunity. Gahhhhh! I am sure the answer is in the bottom of the chicken bucket. Much-love to you all. 😘2024 decluttering Campaign
