Hello all,
Thank-you so much MrsSD for my 2 gold stars, and for doing such a great cheer-leading job! I’ve enjoyed the discussions about decorating colours, not saving items for best, decluttering programmes and clearing out (physically and emotionally) before moving house, as well as all the other encouraging and interesting posts. Like someone else mentioned, I too look forward to reading this thread each day – I tend to catch up at bedtime and think about everything I might do the next day…!
Not as much progress to report having gone down with a cold last weekend and then had a couple of days away in Birmingham this week.
Anyway, my progress report:
Physical items decluttered or frogs ticked off - 10 clothing items, 1 puzzle with missing pieces, 4 inches paper used for writing on / artwork, and 12 inches of greetings cards and 3 cardboards boxes and 5 misc items to recycling at the tip. 107 items to CS. UU 10 old / ood food and drink items, sorted out 1 box of greetings cards and 4 crates of toys and craft things and completed 45 frogs / froglets. Total 202 + 1418 / 2023 - woohoo
Read a book every other week - It Ends Here – book read, Down to the Woods and All Fall Down- E-books read – total 5/26
Mend one item per week – Woollen hat, DD2s PJ bottoms and Santa Stop Here Christmas sign - total 8/52Weight goal of losing 24kg – still no progress
One significant home maintenance or improvement job per month - total 12 (of my wish list of 20) – large items of furniture in front lounge now in their final positions but still need to sort out the pile of clutter, get rid of some more stuff and rearrange the small items of furniture – hopefully Sunday!
Sort out and use up old toiletries and excess cleaning products or donate / dispose of so only one of each - 8 toiletry items to cs and 6 toiletry items uu / throw away.Operate a 1 in 1 out rule for clothes, books and ornaments, excess items in = a negative number - 3 books ordered secondhand – one now read. 6 ornaments sent to cs! I refrained from buying any shoes or boots in the sale at my fav shoe shop (Chanii B’s in Bath) and a Christmas jug from Emma Bridgewater but succumbed and bought a new tablecloth as it was further reduced.
Try mending or buying secondhand before buying anything expensive as new – bought a rug secondhand to put on the kitchen floor as the tiles are freezing. Also I’m now planning to use one of my old bookcases in the front lounge and fit some doors onto it, rather than buying anything new.
Hugs to all, love H x

@dfw38 Back a number of years everyone was having their "colors" done around here to see if they were a winter or spring or whatever. Maybe that is what is happening with kiwi crush - that color would have been the spring green, regular green for winter, olive green for autumn, and a muted soft green for summer.18

Evening All
I have had the most horrendous day at work, so thankful tomorrow is Friday, need to find a couple of decluttering projects for the weekend.
Continuing with the paper decluttering, 63 pieces shredded, 18 pieces recycled.
Halfway through the last box!Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can

We went to Holmfirth today, picked up some massive 2nd hand curtains. I am going to use the fabric to make new sitting room curtains. In fact there is enough to kit the street out a la Von Trap family. It’s a lovely drive over the tops. There was a rainbow over Huddersfield 🌈No sign of a plumber.Tomorrow I will visit my Mum. Whilst I am in town I am going to take my Grandma’s Sunday school prize of a copy of The little match girl to the book binders. I unearthed it when I was putting my few books back on the bookshelf the other day. The presentation plate inside the front cover is 1913. When I worked at school I read it to Y2 every Christmas. It has some lovely illustrations, just the spine is in poor shape. So 20 years of a class of 30 means 600 children have been touched by that story.Love to all Vx:21 -
Probably won't get any decluttering done tomorrow - I am going to the local Holocaust Memorial Service at a local Church. I have been asked to help with the catering after the service.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

@Dfw38 sorry to hear about your dad and the care home and difficulty with siblings. It isn't what you need at all.
I've been reading along but sometimes not in order and forgotten who posted what sometimes
@SecondStar I understand not having mismatched boxes but I'd be tempted to save pennies for the new place. If you have freegle or freecyle people are often getting rid of moving boxes and could get a few the same for one type of thing and then others for another.
Been to I*ea with DD1 who bought storage unit which is damaged so wanted another...b/f will help her put it together. I bought a laundry basket but did get rid of broken one a couple of weeks ago.
DD1 also gave me some stationery back, one folder binned.
Have tomorrow off and trying to work out where I start as feeling overwhelmed. Often end up working as easier than tackling stuff.
Made a call for advice as one frog has multiplied and need advice, 2 froglets dealt with and ventured in DD2 room and took out packaging and some rubbish.
Counting as 5 160
Will try and read a couple of pages I may have missed.
@vulpix I've a friend just moving to Holmfirth and the book sounds lovely (and curtains), interested to know how the bookbinder gets on. I hadn't thought of doing that with older damaged books.
Take care all x15 -

TC77 I have no idea of the cost or time it will take to mend the book, but I think it deserves fixing after so many people have enjoyed it. DS friend has a coffee place in Holmfirth, both to drink and beans. Highly recommend for your friend. If you visit her we should have a meet up. Vx:16
