Money Moral Dilemma: Should I send Christmas cards to my partner's family who don't send them to us?

Definitely stop sending - if they never bother to send one back or at least thank you for the card then why on earth would you bother? Especially given the postal strikes this year mean cards are taking ages to arrive - one I sent first class arrived ten days later!

You don't have a duty to send Christmas cards to anyone. Remember keeping in touch with relatives is a two way street, and if they don't send cards then why should it be one way traffic?
It is not your problem if your partner has no contact with relatives.
personally I gave up sending cards many years ago but still have most of my contacts with relatives through phone or emails.
I dislike the way neighbours who never speak to each other all year creep around in the dark putting cards through letter boxes, in the expectation of getting cards back.My neighbours all know I don't send cards, but still seem to think I like receiving them. I don't!
I am sorry, but I really do not think this is a moral dilemma. No need to feel guilty about not wasting money on cards and postage.
Katiehound has put it very well in her post above.2 -
As I regularly point out to male siblings, being in possession of dangly bits doesn’t mean they can’t make the effort to send their own cards if they would like to do so.
Ditto remembering birthdays.
Ditto remembering Mother’s Day.
Ditto remembering anniversaries.
Ditto remembering and acting upon any significant event for their side of the family. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -
Why send cards to people who cant be bothered sending one back......2nd class stamp and a average card must add up to £2 a pop0

Start sending “ virtual cards” ie a text or email with a Christmas Greeting
Sending cards by “snailmail” is a little outdated
I appreciate a virtual card more, it probably takes more effort by the sender and my recycling bin after the festivities isn’t full of useless expensive tat
The Postal Workers don’t seem to realise the writing is on the wall

I think I'd test the water and not send any cards out this year. See if you get any from his relatives, or any contact asking where your usual one is. If you don't, then the silence says enough. If you do, then you know who actually cares to notice.1

Ive no idea why anyone bothers to send cards to anyone. Donate some money to a charity. At least that will help someone in need and be appreciated. Alternatively make this the last year and put a note in saying you’ll be doing that in future.3

Because of the ongoing postal strike, I'm not sending any this year. Sorted 😁0

With the postal strike there is no guarantee theybwill receive your card before Christmas so I say save your money and stop sending them.0
