Best case for most families is £70 a week on energy, surprised if we make it through winter without some trouble
Maybe we should all throw out an unsubstantiated weekly amount?

    £50, £60, £80

The actual notional figure for a 3 bedroom house with 2-3 people (so small family) is £48 a week don't forget that is averaged out over the year so more this time of year.

This seems a bit OTT to be honest - that equates to £3600 per year, and it feels as though that would be a bit high for most households even at the moment. Can you provide a source for the information as I'd be curious to see how it is reached?

  • During the recent cold spell, I had a couple of days when I used it more, but generally stuck to 2 hours CH in the morning and 3 in the early evening. Those five hours seemed to use around 25-35 kWh of gas daily. The one day I left it running for 11 hours, I used about 70 kWh and the house was still well under 18 degrees until the final half an hour.
Since Sunday, when it warmed up outside, I've not used the heating at all and don't plan to again until it gets colder.
My heated throw has been an absolute gamechanger. Not felt cold at all when working from home, even when the room temp has been mainly between 11-13 degrees on the colder days.
I get a bill usually quarterly and the last 3 months cost me £250, of which £75 was gas (the first two weeks of December mainly) so I'm managing to keep things low in comparison to most. Just a bit depressing when I was using more energy last year and the same 3 months (on a fix) cost me £100 in all.
How the rest of the winter goes will depend on the weather/temps.

No particular source, this was just based on speaking to a number of people on their energy bills, £70 a week will just be for winter usage, plus as a single person living alone I can easily hit £6 a day(though I try to keep it to 5), and my pensioner mother average is over £9 a day so would think a family living in a 3 bed should easily hit £10 a day usage.
