This week we have used 37m3 of gas or about 410kwh , so about 58kwh per day with a combi.3 Bed detatched cottage in Somerset which is always pretty damp and cold, we try to get to about 16o. We're in quite a bit during the week so have the heating on when needed but it's off overnight. Kitchen temp in the morning has been 11 but warms up fairly quickly.0

Hi there, we live in a Victorian house. 4 bed, 2 lounge rooms and an outbuilding used as an office. We are 3 adults and 1 toddler. Since end of November we are averaging minimum £10per day during the week. The weekend is at least £15.
The house has high ceilings and just solid walls. We have a dehumidifier which costs about 12p/h on the lowest setting (meaco dd8l zambezi). The heating comes on at 6am until 8.30am then 4pm until 8 pm. The dehumidifier comes on from 6am until 7.30am in the hallway where it's most freezing. We are lucky if the thermostat hits 15. We just moved in 8 months ago from a 2 bed flat.
With time we can see what we can do to try to insulate the house better but there is a reality that living in an old Victorian house costs. It's painful.

Oh gosh, that's some terrible advice!
I wonder how many people that council have said it to?0 -
I have my thermostat set at 21 deg C from 08:00 to 23:30 and am using between 34 and 45 kWh of gas for heating in a 3 bed semi in central Scotland.
Used 26 kWh in the past 3 and a half hours.1 -

Used 26 kWh in the past 3 and a half hours. And it shows that most of your day's energy consumption is used in the first hours of heating. It looks like you're running a well-balanced efficient system. Your home will be free of damp and draughts and your boiler and system won't get stressed.
You're using just one third of your daily energy consumption for three-quarters of your daily heating period, and you have stayed comfortable all day.
I realise that for people who are out of the house all day, blasting in heat for a couple of hours might be cheaper. But I am concerned that people vulnerable to ill-health might think that boosting the heating for a couple of hours is far cheaper than maintaining adequate temperatures. It often isn't.
