But it does give you a lot of peace of mind to know exactly what your debt is and when it'll be re-paid - as well as only having to budget for a set amount every month!
The only thing I'd say is be careful with the credit cards - I did have a wee slip after I consolidated and managed to accumulate myself another £1.5k debt - maybe you'll have more self control than me - but in the end, I've reduced my CC limit to £500 and the same with my OD - both are clear at the mo, but I figure that the £1k between them is enough to cover emergencies, without giving me enough credit available to get into trouble again!
I think EAMD and CWM.com the thing to do is clear as much as possible and instead of overpayments set up a Cash ISA or some such and put ANY spare cash into that - I know with a loan you can pay off the balance and it could be a good thing to think about saving towards that and then if you keep saving then that is your house deposit sorted and holidays and :T:T:TDo not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Thanks Dragon, that's a good suggestion! Since I've never had any savings before, it's not something I know anything about! But since I'm hoping to go back to uni, and have a family wedding in Mexico to pay for - savings is something I really need to learn a little more about!

I would save to pay loan off but getting a house is more important to me at the minute but once i have that i'll be saving to clear the loan asap!

Morning all (just)
Had a slow puncture and when went to get it checked it was illegal tread and although i didnt want to spend anymore money on the car i didnt fancy getting stopped and given points etc. As it was my usual garage had a decent tyre in the right size and as it was a part worn they only took £25! Result, it still has at least 5 mil of tread on it so will help when the guy checks over my car at the weekend!
I have also been and transfered my number plate off (£105), supposedly they aim to have it back to you within 7 working days but i had a friend who did his the other day and got it in 3 so keeping my fingers crossed.
Loan is getting dropped off tonight and will go pay it in tomorrow!

hiya eamd, keep popping into your diary to catch up on how you are doing, still going well i see?!!
one idea for the credit card you are keeping.... put it into an empty marg tub (wrapped up in a sandwich bag and sealed) fill tub with water and freeze!! thats what i have done so that any emergancies that crop up with either the house or car then i can defrost and use it, keeps me from using it for the impulse buys that previusly filled it up.
good luck on saving for a house,
