Compared to last November.  Gas 30% less, electricity 20%.

Not surprised as it was a warmer than usual November.

I used 50% less than last November due to the very mild weather and only using 3 storage heaters. The two others are still off but will need to go on soon.
  • I suspect the other thread may be dead so I'll re-dump my results here.

    November tally is in.
I really wanted to keep the elec under 300 but the dryer has had to be used quite a bit. The heating kicked in about mid way through the month, I'd say we're averaging about 20kwh per day gas now, it'll be interesting to see how accurate my December predictions are.

Actually, just for comparison seeing as Nov 2021 is the first month showing data on my Bright app.
    Nov 2021
    Elec - 497
Gas - 1292 (>1000kwh reduction - mild weather and new boiler really doing us good!)

Moving my results across from the other thread as well.

An old stone house in the North(ish) of Scotland. 20 month old combi-boiler, electric shower, three adults. Still on a fixed tariff at an exceptionally good rate, compared with new rates, so no financial incentive to save, but wanted to do our bit.

I'm pleased with progress, not quite a like-for-like, as last year readings covered two more days. The weather may be milder this year as well.

Electricity this year - 331kwh, compared with 432 last year.
Gas this year           150 cubic metres, compared with 220 last year.

    I'll settle for that!

Absolutely terrifying when you look at these prices.  Last time I paid close to £133 for a month of energy was in 2019 when I paid £53.05 for 332 kwh for electricity and £79.13 for 73 imperial units of gas (sorry can't work out the khw on that!).  My usage now is well down on that and well down on last year although it's a difficult comparison as my Octopus transfer from Avro was all over the place, so readings and bills were variable rather than monthly until it settled.

Electric jumped 20 kwh for the month this month compared to last couple of months but that may be desperate use of tumble drier as even with a heated electric drier rail clothes can take 2/3 days to dry, probably because house is so cold.

Not sure how I can reduce that gas usage as only had heating on three times all November and that's only been for half an hour or so each time and gas hob has been used about 5 times.  Not even bothering now even though it's dropped down to 16c in here and it's very chilly.  I've got the hot water on timer for 50 minutes in morning and 50 minutes in evening, that's it.  Does an electric shower affect gas?  Only other thing I can think of is that the bathroom radiator comes on when the hot water is on.  Might be wrong but I think this was done as a bypass on the system as in the old days one radiator was left open to allow water to circulate freely?  Maybe an expert may be able to explain that?  Really worrying though that the gas bill is £52 odd when I've only put the heating on three times!  :(

2 adults 3 bed detached "new build" (2019 build)

    Electric
    Nov 2021 = 241kWh
    Nov 2022 = 201kWh

    Gas
    Nov 2021 = 470kWh
    Nov 2022 = 385kWh

No changes to how we are using energy so the reductions are just down to the milder weather this year.

The overnight temperatures have started to dip closer to zero here and we are now using more gas. Currently averaging about 25kWh per day for December.

2 adults in detached old stone cottage, home all day no gas
    Electric 268kWh (LY 253) £108
Pellets 255kg, 1224kWh £106 at purchased price ( £153 at current prices eek)
Free logs for the wood burner, we usually use this to heat the sitting room in the evening and don't bother heating the rest of the house.

Usage is high this month, sick cat = more washing & tumble drying as well as constant heating post surgery.
We usually use around 7.5 kWh/day electric and have the HW/heating on in the morning only.

Last year November was 336 kwh gas and 138 kwh electric. This year is 8 kwh gas and 184 kwh electric.
This year I'm just using an electric heater in the front room but its not a fair comparison as I have cut back on both anyway. My feeling is its cheaper just heating the front room but not by a huge amount. I'm considering using the central heating from the 24th Dec to the 2nd of March as the kitchen really feels pretty cold when I spend more than a few minutes in it. I do think the temperature in the front room is more 'even' with the electric heater. With the gas CH it seems to have more peaks and troughs. Again its hard to compare directly as this year I'm monitoring the front room temperature with a thermometer right behind where I sit rather than nearer the radiator.
    Lots to consider here.
