Mr SA was more organised than me this year. His Christmas shopping was done and wrapped in September!

Hey all - thanks for dropping in Cheery, Beanie & RS!All good here - a morning of cooking with mince pies and sausage rolls now made, and a big pan of curried parsnip soup some of which we’ve just had for lunch. That also used our home grown parsnips as well as the excess from the past couple of veg boxes. MrEH dug ours up this morning - they were very small, but regardless, very edible! MrEH went to get a final present or two, and also dropped off a bag at the charity shop to get that out of the house before Christmas.I beeswax polished my dining table last night - it previously belonged to my Great Aunt & Uncle - bought by them in the 1960’s and I still have its original receipt, which is rather lovely. It occurred to me to wonder how many times they (probably my Gt Uncle, in fact) had done that very thing ahead of Christmas too! It won’t be being used for any big gatherings this year but it’s still nice to have it all looking wonderful as although quite a plain gateleg style it’s a rather beautiful piece of furniture.
Plan for this afternoon once MrEH has finished sorting out the niece and nephew’s Christmas vouchers (Big River - so easy!) is to head to the rugby club to meet the guys for a few 🍻’s. It’s only open until 6pm anyway but it’ll be nice to see everyone.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I've very strongly hinted to the bf we could do with a lighter 'Jaws' to use on the stairs as trying to balance to heavy vax on a step is a pita.
I fear he hasn't heard me.

Funnily enough the other half is just browsing Jaws as well. He has finally admitted that Henry is a bit heavy for lugging around the house 😀3

Redo That made me chuckle - but I can’t say I blame you. I have to say one of the things I love about ours is how light it is though - although currently we don’t have stairs to contend with!
Well merry Christmas one and all - it’s dry but cloudy here and still very mild.Definitely a NSD here obviously - we’ll be off to Mum’s later this morning for the day - seems likely I’ll be doing the driving as MrEH wants a beer or two and I’m less bothered about that than he is. I have a couple of bottles of low alcohol Adnams “Ghost Ship” in the larder I think so may take those for drinking with lunch - by far the nicest No/low beer I’ve sampled.Just finished cuppa no 1 - I’ve be making No 2 and popping the oven on to warm croissants for breakfast shortly. The ham was cooked last night (in the even in the end) and was done with star anise, cinnamon, allspice and cloves in the cooking liquid, smells amazing but goodness knows how I will fit it into the fridge! 🤣🤣

I love this! I have my gran’s dinning table - it was a wedding present from 1935 💕. My dad was so chuffed when I asked if I could have it when she died. It has two leaves that fold out and the inside wasn’t polished as it would be used for baking etc. I had it French polished though as we have it open to fit the family round. Unfortunately it’s not quite big enough for us when we have family & friends round but my older brother wants it so it will stay in the family. Just need to get it from Yorkshire to central London! We live in such a disposable & fashion conscious society now!Xx5
