Ahh BB5 how lovely - and yes, I do think it feels as though there is less focus now on retaining nice pieces of furniture like this - although I’m sure it depends on the person involved too!
Well we had a lovely day yesterday - very peaceful albeit with one small drama when we discovered Mum’s heating wasn’t working (off the back of a fortuitous conversation about a radiator that needed bleeding!) - thankfully a quick re-pressure sorted it and got all the rads back to temperature so all good. Dinner was delicious - possibly the nicest turkey we’ve had although the farm we got it from always do really nice birds - I divided it up after slicing some additional white meat for Mum - the body is still in her fridge at the moment as she had more space than we did - if I think I can make enough room for it though I might go and collect it later, I’ve already got the wings and the other leg back here.Nothing much planned for today now - there is a game on at the Rugby club which MrEH plans to have a run-out in - I’m be debating whether to go along or not, right now. I’m quite tempted by a lazy day involving picky leftovers and the TV to be honest! 🤣🤣
We need a full on list for the next week of things that we want to get done I think - getting the flat sorted (the two bedrooms) is a priority, the balcony needs a thorough tidy too, and we want to get out and about for a day as well. There will also be a fair amount of cooking - I still haven’t worked out whether we will need the second freezer on, although I suspect we will.Banking is checked and OK - as predicted there isn’t much to do there now until the start of the month. There will be £400 to transfer to MrEH’s 0% card in a few days which I’m pleased about - by the time the regular payment has gone as well at the beginning of January that should leave a balance of around £200 there which can be sorted next month.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Picky leftovers and the TV sounds like a good plan to me! One I will be following myself (except we don't actually have any leftovers 😱😂)5

This is literally the first year I’ve ever had turkey leftovers - I’m ridiculously excited about it! 🤣🤣
Roll for lunch with ham, turkey, stuffing, bread and cranberry sauces - very tasty indeed. The rest of the turkey has now been carved off - leftover slices for the next couple of days, a couple of lots for future Sunday dinners, three more bags with enough each for a curry, stir fry or similar, the rest of the carcass is now in the big pot with a chicken carcass from the freezer, an onion, couple of carrots, peppercorns and bay leaf simmering away for stock. I’ve still got the wings and the other leg and will strip the meat off those probably for a meal later in the week I think - maybe a turkey, ham and leek pie.
MrEH should be back from the club shortly, I’m cheerfully settled on the sofa with some episodes of Classic Casualty and a large Baileys so all good here! Might get the notebook out in a bit and make a start on a jobs list for the rest of the week.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I’ve just found your new diary and caught up.
Well done getting the £100 rather than having to go through the hassle of getting the ombudsman involved.
HOW do folk make gravy without giblets???????I’ve been sorting my turkey out today too. Lots in the freezer making it very good value for money.
The right house will turn up. 👍January spends - £587.584 -
Hey thanks all - and welcome along for the ride OhSh… and Milann! The chunkiest Christmas dinner sandwiches in the world for lunch today - delicious, we’ve decided we like this leftovers business! 😂 I’ve also portioned out the stock that was made yesterday - 5 Chinese takeaway tubs of really nice flavoursome stuff now lined up in the freezer ready to freeze overnight - freezer 2 will be being fired up to chill down on cheap rate as I reckon there will be some more stuff to freeze yet, too.Went for a decent walk this morning including going to take a look at a couple of houses we might view. Both in cul-de-sacs, and not far away from each other in an area we like. One very much stood out - typically the more expensive of the two - but we suspect it might have gone by the time we’re really in a position to do anything about it. It has been on with Purple Bricks we think and has now transferred over to a mainstream local agent so we’ll see. We’re starting to make progress on getting ours ready for the market, too. Lots more caulking around the thermal paper done today - in fact we’re nearly finished with that. The windowsill in our bedroom has also been rubbed down thoroughly ready for paint tomorrow morning. I’ve also done some scrubbing down of grout in the bathroom - it had discoloured a little but a scrub over with bicarb and lemon juice has brought it up far nicer. MrEH has tidied the desk in the spare room ready to get that shifted out tomorrow too ready to clean down the wall behind it. Plan for the morning we think is get the (hopefully final!) bits of caulking done, then paint the sill, then move on to the spare room.Third no spend day on the trot here - tomorrow most likely won’t be as we’ll probably buy either a baguette or some rolls to go with soup at lunchtime, and might see what reductions there are too if we’re going into a supermarket - now we’ve got the second freezer back on we may as well make use of it!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
