Solicitors don’t seem to realise that when they go off grid or don’t communicate it is stressful for those waiting on confirmation of exchange so they can do things like book removers etc. hope it all comes together soon.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. We are human beings too....
I don't know of anyone who intentionally goes off grid or delays matters.
I've got COVID. I'm WFH. I'm reliant on over worked colleagues scanning documents in so I know what we have.

So frustrating. Surely there must be a better system than how we buy and sell houses in England? I don't know when the last major reform happened to the process but there must be improvements to be made. So many buyers and sellers end up stressed and uncertain in the run up to exchange.
lots of MSE'rs with their fingers crossed for you. At least with crossed fingers we can't get any money out of our purses/wallets.

This week is one of the horrendous ones with the bank holiday. No one will do set office hours.
Buyer's solicitor has been located - he's on holiday. Seems he didn't bother telling the buyer about this - indeed when she transferred her funds yesterday it was under the impression that she was transferring them and he would then immediately carry out the exchange. He also stated to our solicitor last week that the exchange would be able to happen early this week in spite of clearly knowing that this was never going to be the case. Nobody (including our buyer!) is very pleased about this turn of events. I'm fuming as of course we've lost a full week's interest from the money we transferred last Thursday - it could have stayed put and been transferred over later. It's not a massive amount in the grand scheme of things, but it IS enough that right now I would sooner not lose out on it due to someone else's incompetence.
Unfortunately this is just the sort of solicitor that leads to a lot of the general public taking a "Solicitors - they're all a bunch of crooks" approach that those of us working in the industry hear all too often!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
