Took out a free trial with WilkinsonsPlus which is powered by mymoviestream. It said you would get a free £5 WilkinsonsPlus voucher also. However when the confirmation finally came down (4 days after signing up) it said the voucher was only for £5 off a £30 spend. I doubled checked and nowhere on the initial email, or the information on there website does it say this. The level of service was also pretty poor, slow turnaround and never got anything from anywhere near the top of my list.

We've been with Blockbuster DVD by post for about 3 years now, I'd say, and we've always received films within the top 5 of our list as far as I can remember. But this is the first time we've used them at such high volumes. FWIW Jan we had 12 films but previous months we'd fluctuate between 5-8 a month.

When you were getting 5-8 a month, which plan were you on? Unlimited one at home, two at home, or three at home at a time? And were you getting mostly movies released in the past year, or older ones? All of this impacts on when Blockbuster decides to start skipping your top picks.

We're going to sign up with Blockbuster again soon, and I know when we took 12 or more out a month on the 3 at home plan, we soon found ourselves unable to get any recent movies (or even ones years old if they were high on our list!). I'll reign in our return rate if it will mean we can keep getting our top choices.

Thanks for going to all that trouble! Yes, it does help. It looks like you got fewer movies than we would, and less new releases. Since I know we won't keep it to 8 movies a month with older ones mixed in, we may as well join in the next month or two, watch movies like crazy, and then cancel after a couple of months when they "punish" us for being high-volume users. :)

I used to be member of Lovefilm ages ago but fed up with the slow turnover towards the end. Someone posted the "3 months free trial" code, so despite all the warnings :) I thought I would give it a go.

Got my first 3 disc today, I was really looking forward to watch one of them tonight, which turned out to be a French art film which has never been on my list, so they mixed it up.

    Not a good start...
  • Hi

I've just joined LoveFilm - could somone please tell me how I can view whether they are sending me a film yet? Thanks.

Just seen it says I am due 1 despatch, guess that's my answer!
    What larks eh Pip?
  • We had our next 2 DVD's come through (posted 2 back Saturday) and they were:
Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
    Hot Fuzz

So no Run Fat boy Run - which is at the top, but 2 from our top 3. The other DVD was posted on Sunday, so we should get next DVD tomorrow - fingers crossed for Run Fat Boy- otherwise it'll be another Harry Potter!

Yay - Run Fat Boy, Run came yesterday! So, still no problems with blockbuster!

hello, just a quick question. Am I right in thinking in how it works is as soon as you finish with a DVD and send it back they send you another one?

I would only want a DVD once in a while, so is it really worth joining these companies?

I am asking because I want to cancel the sky+ movies option to save a bit of money, and wondering whether to take one of these out instead ?

    Thanks.

Lovefilm do a pay as you go service where you buy credits, am thinking about it myself but not sure if you still have to do the list thing like other rental sites or if you can literally chose what you want and when -anyone else used this -and if so can you get new releases easily?

moviestream was just awful. Truly awful.

We had so few dvds in our trial period that we would NEVER consider using them.

i cancelled the membership as per the terms of the free trial and lo and behold they claimed not to have received the dvds and charged us £12.99 for A SECOND MONTH.

There is NO customer service - no-one answers the phone and no-one replies to emails until normally about three days later.

They eventually emailed me asking me to email a copy of the proof of postage (by his time they had received the dvds and had confirmed this) and gave me a non existent email address.

My dh has had to cancel his card as he is worried (esp after reading stuff on this forum) that they will continue to take £ from his account.

Do not touch moviestream - spread the word!
