Morning Turtles,
I had a wee adventure yesterday - went to Chichester for a look around, went to the cathedral and the gardens had a coffee (there was a real fire in the coffee shop and came home. It was really lovely. bright blue sky. It was low spend for a day trip but a spend day nonetheless. Nipped to Sainsbugs on the way home too.
Grateful for: a mini adventure, seeing some are in the Cathedral. A real fire to warm myself and watch the flames lick. Call with DD.

Spent yesterday washing bedding and towels, vacuuming and cleaning up after Aussie cousin left. The two days before was spent washing and attempting to dry 2 week’s worth of his clothing and underwear that he’d hoarded despite me asking if he had anything needing washed. This morning I’m washing all our things that have lingered in the washing pile for three days. It’s not so much the washing but the drying that slows things down especially when it’s poured with rain and all you’ve got is a single clothes horse. Anyway almost there with it. Despite the mountain of washing, it was lovely to have my youngest cousin staying with us and to get to know him a little better.I’ve also made a start on decluttering the house… yesterday I started with DS’s toys and books… some went to Mum’s, some are going to Granny’s, and some are going to the CS.DS got a surprise call from Santa on live radio last week and was given an unexpected £200 voucher for the river retailer! Planning to use the voucher on groceries from Morris’s (which is partnered with the river retailer) and to save £200 from our grocery budget towards holiday to Florida (booked for October).Looking forward to going to the cinema with gf tonight to see the new Whitney film. We’re both using our free cinema vouchers got through Lloyds bank switch.Grateful for time (although short) with family from Oz, for being on annual leave, for unexpected £200 from radio call, and for free cinema tickets.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸9

DS went to his mates this evening for a couple of hours and I should have used the time more wisely than scrolling through my phone!
Yep! I know the feeling. I've been there far too often, so am not playing a certain game on my phone for Jan.

Hello, payday today, yay.
Going back to cash, took out money for the first week and assigned it to the different envelops. I will do some more planning later when I take the kids to the trampoline park. Paid towards debt too. Will need to figure out the new total and update my signature.
As we took FIL to his golf club for Xmas dinner we'll have ours tomorrow. Started cooking the goose today as I always cook it over two days. Gets more fat out. Had bought the goose, ham etc well in advance when our plans were uncertain. So will also have plenty of delicious leftovers for the start of the year.
Today we'll just have cold cuts dinner German style as we have loads of smoked ham, salami and cheeses to use up.
Did a first shop for week 1 and was well under budget. Here's to a good financial 2023DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/259 -

Spend day today - I bought some bread from the corner shop, but nothing else was needed. I made a cheese and onion flan this morning, to use up some of the cheese mountain and some slightly OOD cream. I forgot it was in the oven, so it is slightly browner on top than I would have chosen, but all good, and it will do for dinner tomorrow. This evening we will just have soup I think. I sorted out some items in the fridge, and was pleased to see that some of the cheese mountain is long dated, so I separated that out from the rest, which is earmarked for using up. I froze some terrine, and finished off some lurking apple cake for lunch. This afternoon I intend to start on cleaning out cupboards and drawers and getting rid of junk. I will start with the saucepan cupboard. I am unlikely to find any rubbish in there, but the shelves definitely want wiping down.11
