Just wanted to update this with February usage.
From 1st to 27th Feb usage was 144kwh day and 715kwh night.
That's coming in at £6.72 per day including the standing charge
Pretty pleased with that given I'm home all day and my arthritis won't tolerate cold!
Heating is 2 X quantum 125s, 1 box of bricks, fan heater in bathroom (10 mins per day)  and bedroom 1 (30 mins per day). Panel heater in bed 2 just a couple of blasts during working day to bring it up to 20.
    Electric shower once per day.
2 to 3 loads of laundry a week doing the water heating bit early so before the E7 finishes.
Pretty happy with that! I expected more if I'm honest.

  • That's a very impressive balance between peak and off peak for someone pretty new to E7 - well done!

I had all the lights replaced to get rid of halogen and the day rate heaters are all new which helps with the level of control.
I also bought new to me oven and induction hob second hand and that's definitely a winner on economy too. Also using the washing machine on the cheapest cycle that balances time which is the 1 hr 20C cycle.
Expecting high bills has made me really think about stuff.
The strangest thing is getting used to leaving doors open to balance heating between rooms. Counterintuitive but very effective and of course keeps the cat happy!

  • Ahh yes - the fine balance of what to do with doors! We take the alternative approach - front room door stays closed to keep in the heat from the box of bricks in there, bathroom and both bedroom doors stay open to allow the Quantum to spread the net of it's warmth a little wider...! (If we'd still had the cat then I rather suspect she would in any event have been a twice-a-day trip hazard  directly in front of the vent at the bottom of the Quantum! This is the same cat who, in our previous home, as a very tiny kitten, used to frequently be found curled up around the upright central heating pipe feeding a radiator!)

Thanks for sharing this.  I'm relatively new to the board and your figures for an all eletric E7 dwelling are very helpful. I have similar usage to you with slightly lower night readings. I run 2 x NSH  (old Creda models) - I do not run these at full input though.  I switch on the 3KW immersion heater for 30 minutes per day during off-peak. I top up the rooms as needed with short blasts from panel heaters - similar to you.

I only recently twigged (shame on me I know!) that my Ovo tariff  (I was migrated from SSE) was charging a somehat exorbitant  26.94p + VAT for off peak E7 on their standard tariff. I've switched to EDF whose off peak rate is just over halft this.
