Now everything is settled and the flat is warmed through I've started meter reading to see what is used keeping the flat comfortable. If that's affordable great, if it isn't then I'll have to look to cut back.
Whole flat at 18 to 19C all day and running the Gledhill.
Day use: 3 kWh Night use: 40 kWh 😱
Still waiting on Eon to confirm the tariff.
Going to turn off the bedroom storage heater as now the place is warm and I have a fan heater in the en suite bathroom fitted I don't think I really need it.

  • On my current Octopus tariff, the night use you mention above (ex vat & SCs) would have been around £6.50. The day use a little under £1.50.

It's about £7.60 for the night rate.
£10 a day through winter is ok for my budget.

That tariff image says Pay on Receipt - you opposed to DD  ?

Currently both SC and the actual units are more expensive (by upto 10% -"after EPG discount) for pay on receipt vs direct debit.

The actual Ofgem cap shows upwards of £20pa on SC and c£160 for 4200kWh (3p per unit) - £180+ all in - extra for POR.  See other (DD) vs standard credit tables for your specific region - bearing in mind these tables are pre discount rates - and before day/night split.

I am not sure if EOnNExt do monthy variable direct debit at the same price as DD - some do, some don't. (I prefer fixed - and they have auto refunded excess credit to me in past)

GOvt EPG are similarly more expensive for POR.

I know they probably might have offered a silly move in estimate for fixed DD, but if can get a sensible number, now acutally in, or variable DD at DD rates - might be worth considering.

Good spot, that's what the previous owner had and I'd asked for direct debit.
The meter is dual MPAN which is also confusing Eon.
I'm intending to switch to Octopus once Eon is set up as they're rates are better I think. Not sure I can stomach EDF despite their lovely rate

Doesn't dual MPAN's mean that you are on an E10 or Heatwise tariff? i thought you were on conventional E7. If so, I don't think Octopus will support it: only the legacy suppliers do.

When I was on radiotelemetry switched heatwise I had two meters and 2 MPANs and three different unit rates.
There was an interim digital meter for E10 - that did its own circuit switch, cannot remember details re 1 or 2 mpans.

But now on a Smart Meter, and E10, my bills only have a single mpan grid.

E10 is very much a legacy tariff, not sure they offer it to new customers.

Are there actually 2 mpans on your statements.

There were other legacy tariffs that were dual mpan, to allow separate tariffs for heating and hot water  etc (EDF site refers to a dual mpan e10, dual mpan e9 - but not e7).

There are some older posts here re dual mpan but billed as standard e7, some having problems switching.

EOn used to have a dedicated complex (restricted) meter team - not sure re EOnNext these days.

Both MPANs on bill and tariff on both is E7. I got hold of an old bill from my lovely vendor. It's legacy as the current meter was put in in 2008 (details left in box)
