Hello savingholmes. Managed to catch up with you. Well done on the mortgage pay off. Are you still using the wooden house to represent the payments?
Regarding the car key, if you do a YouTube search for the make and model of your car and key you may be surprised how easy it is to change the key battery yourself. I do mine now as it's so easy once I was shown how.

I had a lovely time... Yesterday we went to see some Roman stuff of the watery variety. I was hoping to have coffee in the next door pump room but they weren't taking walk-ins. I was able to take lovely photos though - and was pleased just to set foot in the place. I got a glimpse inside a nearby abbey but didn't have time to do a tour of that but would love to go back. The flood defences have created stunning weirs which look amazing.
We did an escape room and almost made it out but not quite. Still good fun though. I had to sit on the floor at times though as it wasn't disability friendly - in the end they brought a chair in for me. DS and I finished our day at a lovely desert restaurant of the heavenly variety - it was a fab experience. Then I drove home and arranged for DD and I to have an Indian takeaway delivered... I did more exercise in one weekend than I normally do in a month.
Today I went to the chiropractor for the first time - wondering if I should be there. However, he took a very thorough medical exam - and seemed very caring. Judging by all the things he said were wrong, I should have gone a long time ago. If I go though - he'd want me to do my balance class again or Pilates - and some sort of water based exercise. A 10 treatment course would be over £400 - but I'd be able to get most of it back on my cash plan. He also suggested I get a bone density scan via my GP. I also potentially need special insoles to correct foot problems. He seemed to think things were improvable if I can cope with lying on my front which isn't a given... I'm going to go for a test session - perhaps in a month's time before committing. I should resume my gym membership at that point though - and try and go swimming and to classes regularly - otherwise he said there was little point doing his bit. He felt the two things had to go together.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The Chiropractor sounds like they know what they are doing, not just taking your money and saying they can cure all ills. Expensive, but the consultation was probably worth it. Hope you feel better soon. And the bone density suggestion is a good one, for future care. What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Yes he said he'd start at 2 sessions a week, then progress to 1 a week, then 1 a fortnight, then 1 a month and go on from there. He reckoned the first 10 sessions would be pretty intensive though and take place over 2-3 months. I think I'll aim to start after my April holiday and align the gym resumption accordingly.
I'll ring the GP re the scan as if there is a problem - the sooner I know the better. He said it could be as simple for the bone density bit as taking calcium and vitamin D supplements - or I could need infusions etc.
As a good MSE person I've submitted my claim for the first consultation already!
Today I got offered £5 by Am**** if I bought a £60 gift card - so did that... About £35 is now also finally payable on £co - but still debating how best to withdraw that.
I spoke to DS about possibly going on holiday together and him sharing the driving and he was up for it. I didn't think DD would want to go where we were going as it is more remote but she seems interested. Not booking anything yet, just started investigating options and prices. I'd rather do a separate city break with her which I feel is more her style. Need to work out a budget as it seems in danger of sky-rocketing.
I spoke to DS about his budgeting and asked if he was in a position to start repaying my loan to him. I suggested he started with a split payment to me and part saving to an EF so he was resolving both in tandem. Should start getting something from April - which at this rate will go into the holiday fund! I also said to DD I'd prefer to wait until my Reg Saver matured before buying a car. Only have to wait until the end of this month - and then I'll find out what interest I've been paid. The rate has changed that often I can't keep track of what I'm due. I've got £1700 in that account - so will use £100 plus the interest towards my holiday pot / savings.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
