I started to mow the lawn today - only to realise I'd forgotten to charge the battery so had to abandon it about 4 widths in. By the time the battery had charged it started raining. A neighbour filled most of my garden bin yesterday as I lent it him after he pruned some bushes in my eyeline. He's planning to remove those bushes and put a fence there instead so from my perspective that's a shame - and makes me doubly glad I'm due to move.
The cat still has 'visitors'. Getting fed up now. Not allowed to reapply the stuff until the end of the month - so just use a comb. I need to sort his vaccinations too.
I've had another look at what's left in the shed - not a lot and what's in the garage (needs more thinning). I know my handyman would happily take some more of the stuff and there's always the selling option on FB. The buyers may want some too. It looks like most of the appliances at yesterday's house are built in - so I could potentially sell my 2 FF and maybe even the microwave. That house had a built in dishwasher - so would potentially leave the one here although technically it's freestanding.
I looked in the cupboards of the 3 bedrooms not currently in use. It's better than I expected due to the decluttering done earlier in the year - plus the kids have removed most of their belongings. DD needs to take more from both her room plus some in DS's wardrobe - plus 2 bikes from the garage. She plans to take her desk, a chest of drawers, bedside table, gaming stuff, and office chair to her new address. She's considering whether her bed is better than the one in the second bedroom at her new home or not. I'd potentially give her the bedding too. I'd potentially sell the £15 bed I bought on FB as while I prefer how it looks - my DS is too tall for that one.
There's a 3 drawer plastic unit I'd probably keep and a small chest of drawers that currently is slim enough to sit inside the wardrobe. I've had that about 30 years!!! There's a crate of DS's books he's happy for me to donate somewhere. I'd bin his office chair. Most of what I'd keep from the cupboards of those three rooms should fit in the mirrored wardrobes if I got yesterday's house.
Do most people still take their light fittings when they move? I don't like the ones where I'm potentially going so would probably replace them - but if I had to pay someone to take them down here and put them up elsewhere - it might be cheaper to just buy new at the new place and pay once. That way I'd also know the wiring was more up to date. Some of mine I've had a while. I'd probably ask the handyman to come over and sort that for me as a job lot.
I don't know what I'll do if the buyers say they aren't open to offers. All the other houses I like are typically another £30-40K on top and I don't want to spend that much.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

It sounds like a wonderful home Savings. I know if I add a sunroom onto my home it will be my plant and extra lounge area. I'm not creative but if I was, I would totally use a conservatory with beautiful views as my studio and inspiration space and then smallest bedroom as a study. The best part is it would be your home and you can do what you want regardless of what someone else would do. And less to clean is always a bonus.Mortgage start date Dec 2015 - $64,655.00
Mortgage end date Dec 2045 - NOT!!!!

I would start afresh with light fittings and I think they are things you are supposed to leave in place aren’t they?

Exciting news Savingholmes, keeping my fingers crossed for you. ps agree with Kajikita that the light fittings will be part of the house (although if there were any special ones you could swap them over for a plain lampshade fitting I guess - but would probably need to be listed in the document which says what you are taking or leaving. Is it a bit like house insurance in that if you could turn your house upside and give it a shake, anything that's loose is contents but the bits that are in place are buildings?"Think of many things, do one"

Good luck with starting negotiations tomorrow.
it's a fine balance getting the offer right. As you know from your recent selling experience they will probably have a price in mind and if you can find the sweet spot for them and you then it will click into place. If I'd found a new long term home then I'd be reluctant to lose it over a few thousand pounds. Not very MSE I know but I wouldn't want it to be the one that got away. I'm sure you will get other input to balance out my heart ruling head (and bank balance) approach!5 -

I'm inclined to agree with @Blackcats, if you really love it then it's worth scraping a bit to get it. In 4 or 5 years time the difference you pay will seem negligible ( ask me how I know!) Really keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes your way. (((hugs))) XXI Believe.....

I would also leave light fittings as well.
I agree with the others, make your offer, and if it is refused, see how far away it is from what they want.
Fingers crossed they accept though!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3
