Had an offer for £20K below asking but said no. The last offer I turned down was £5K more than that. Feeling very disheartened. Grateful I'm not in a position where I 'need' to sell. Unless the market picks up in September - I think I'll be staying at this rate. I know in theory the market value is the value - but unless I get an equivalent amount knocked of someone else's property I won't have enough money left to buy what I want and get any value from potentially downsizing.
Just pulled more blanket weed out of my pond. Despite me adding black dye previously it seems endless. Just added more black dye and fished a load of plant debris out. Hope that helps.
I've taken some stuff out of the freezer to defrost but it looks like it could take until tomorrow as it was from the garage freezer where the temperature is terrible at trying to regulate.

Yep - we had to turn down a number of "too low" offers as well - half of the issue I think is the so called "wisdom" about people offering 10% under asking as standard - without stopping to suggest that it does need to depend on the asking price in the first place! We offered 5% under on the place we are buying, and then met the vendors in the middle. I wouldn't have expected to be taken seriously if we'd offered as low as 10% under, and to be honest I'd have been concerned we'd have been seen as chancers who the sellers just wouldn't want to deal with! (Plus we also REALLY wanted the house, which definitely focused the mind!)

I get it on the low offers - it's an uncertain market - but it's not even close to the lowest I think I'd be willing to accept. Reassuring you experienced this too EH. I was also surprised there was no second offer but maybe they are thinking through their numbers. On the portal it did ask if I wanted to name an amount I'd be willing to take - but TBH - I put offers over in the advert which should give a clue. I may be unrealistic in what I'm aiming for - but it was the average value I was given by the EAs if not slightly below.
To cheer myself up I've done an £18 off first grocery delivery at Sains so looking forward to that. I used the price match to Ald1 for a lot of it - so hopefully I will have won overall. It's coming Wednesday - before I'm due to have a work friend over in the afternoon.

What's the issue that means you're prevaricating about the parcels to the post office? Can you remind yourself how much you will get back as refunds on the returns then consider the time it will take as an "hourly rate"? Ultimately you can't afford NOT to take them back, can you!
You've got me thinking about doing a first online shop with one or other supermarket when we move to deal with restocking - if I shop carefully I ought to be able to still get the benefit of reasonable prices but also be able to take off the introductory discount. I'm thinking Morrisons makes the most sense for me as it's the store I rarely visit as it's further away - they do deliver in our area though. It is interesting being on the other side of a lower offer. I was initially afraid to ask 5% under, but I did. I offered a bit more, but not much, and we settled. For you a 5% loss wouldn't allow you to do what you want to do next. For her, it was enough to do what she wanted to do next. Hopefully someone will come along to offer what you need.

I only went below asking price on my first house - and that was compensated for by a new build deal. The other two both sold for full asking. I can't seem to get my head around a lower offer. I need to decide whether I am willing to go below my current asking price and if so by how much. I was happy with a £10K reduction before to my current asking price - but am really reluctant to accept below that but may be being unreasonable. Either way I am seeing it all as training for when I need to make my offers.
DIA - I think you hit the nail on the head of I don't think it will allow me to do what I want to next if I accept a lower offer and I'm not sure I can buy the kind of property I want for the revised figure I'd have available.
My head is mashed as work is still full on and I am sleeping super badly currently. The meds impact is less noticeable in terms of side effects this week so the higher dose is presumably helping by lengthening the period the meds cover.
I've been paid. CCs now pretty much clear other than the clothes refund for items that EH will be glad to know I returned at lunchtime. That will return circa £100 to my CC.
Another £450 has gone automatically into AVCs and I've sent £400 to savings. It's nice to see those figures go up.
