Argos Staff Contempt while representing proper branded product supplied for Argos only

4 pages later I still have no idea what's going on. As such, i'm on the side of Argos.

The grill goes off every so often on a thermal safety cut-out - but the OP says nothing around it is hot. (Although I would think that a thermal safety switch cuts out when it reaches a set temperature to stop the casing getting hot - so is probably doing the right thing.) If it's a combi microwave with built in grill, the grill usually is for light use rather than cooking a joint of meat (to my understanding) - so it's possible that it's a product that's not doing what the OP expected it to do - or that there is possibly a fault in that it cuts out too often.powerful_Rogue said:4 pages later I still have no idea what's going on. As the name suggests, this is the forum where people discuss consumer rights. So if you want to know whether you e.g. have a right to return a faulty item to the retailer, we can chat about that.RickyL14 said:
I'm new here. I presumed customers tend to come on here to seek knowledge, advice & support but also to discuss any similar or overlapping experiences with each other or even to discuss new developing practices etc.Ath_Wat said:
Well either they don't care, or they don't think that was happening. As you haven't posted the transcript here, nobody here can tell you you were in the right, so I don't really know what you expect.RickyL14 said:
I'd care if my brand was being let down by a retailer. It would make me all the more concerned if the product support and customer service etc. was to be provided by the retailer for products emblazoned with my unique branding.Ath_Wat said:Not about the transcript, about your problem with the cooker. They won't care about what one of Argos's customer service reps said to you.
But you seem to want to engage the manufacturer in a discussion (which you don't have a right to do), or to insist that Argos disciplines its employees in a way which pleases you (which you don't have a right to do either).
As already suggested, there's a separate forum for people who just want a rant.
And probably somewhere else if you want practical help about your problems with the product.1 -
We have a ceramic hob that works on/off based on a timing count instead of the temperature but the Argos grill is different as it can last longer or shorter.cymruchris said:

The Argos Morphy Richards microwave grill is only used for toasting sandwiches, melting or crisping for light use although it is supposed to be able to do more than that, but exact same fault has occurred ( per another poster on youtube ) to an older similar model of same brand too0 -
How long since you bought it? And is it something that happened from day 1? Or is it a more recent development?RickyL14 said:

Is the microwave under warranty ? Have you tried returning it to Argos as faulty1
-
That would be too simple, whenever I have taken anything back to Argos I have had no trouble whatsoever then again I don't argue with ore abuse the staff. I have worked in retail so I do know how staff are abused by threatening customers. My sympathies to themphotome said:Is the microwave under warranty ? That would be my starting point as well. How long have you had the product for?photome said:Is the microwave under warranty ? Have you tried returning it to Argos as faulty
Everything else is really just smoke and mirrors. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
How old is the microwave?
Have you tried to return it to Argos as being faulty?
Forget contacting the manufacturer, you have no consumer rights with them. Exercise your consumer rights with the retailer and return as faulty.0
