  • If you have decided that you will 'hold-out' then why bother even posting then !!!!!!. People are only posting their opinions, which is generally what happens on forums. Take or leave the advice.... it's a free country (kind of;) )

Because i wasnt asking "should i hold out or not " or should i accept !!!!! Iwas asking what low offers others had recieved and not had replies to that question just got you lot shouting off the same old thing you have been for months !!!!!! Thought i may post out of intrest wish i hadnt off now , what a joke !

What a silly row this has turned into, and I was really interested to hear what kind of offers other have been getting .

    Anyone else had any offers?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

What did you expect to hear? People getting asking price offers in the middle of december,in the middle of a credit crunch? Sorry to have disappointed you.

    Thxs for the entertainment Lizzie.

Hyacinth Bucket would be proud of you ;)

Your second post was by far the best I thought...All that nose-in-the-air righteous indignation (& sod all those priced out by the morally obscene last ten years). It was beautiful. You've made my day. HUGZ

no i was asking what offers people had had - whether it was 6 days ago, 6 weeks or 6 months !

It was a reasonable question to ask. For those of us who've been around these boards a while it is frustrating to see what these boards have become and why I don't visit as much. Some can't even be bothered to read the original post before going down the sell at any price line. MSE used to be a very supportive place to post.

Right you lot. Leave the OP alone. She asked a simple question - how low are offers these days. She didn't ask for an economics lecture. ;)

That out of the way, a house is only worth what someone will pay for it. End of. An offer is just that. An offer. You don't have to accept it and even if you did they don't have to buy.

December is the worst month to sell, mortgages are getting harder to come by, people can't borrow as much, debt is at record highs. Chances are your house - and I mean everyone's house - won't sell for as much today as it might have done six months ago. Things have changed big time. Offers are going to be lower right into next year, maybe longer.

Unless you are desperate to sell - and I assume you are if you put it on in December - and can afford to wait until the Spring do so. Things may have improved, they may be worse. But if you have a definite price in mind and won't go any lower you will have to wait. Maybe years.

Why not look up what houses have sold for in your area? It's not much use if someones accepted 20% off their asking price if they're at opposite ends of the country to you.

    Go back and negotiate.

  • Problem may even be getting offers in - got a colleague on the market since October and not even had any viewings yet.

Like someone said earlier, now you've had an offer in get your EA to earn their comission and negoiate it up to a price you can accept.

YOu'll then be in a position to go out and negotiate on another place.
