Something like
"Anecdotals - How much of your asking price did you acheive (bearing in mind, if it's too much for our liking, we'll slag you off and imply you'll never make it completion regardless of whether your asking price was half that of next door) OR How much did you get off the asking price (because it wasn't low enough, you muppet)"
Is that too long?
Seriously, I dunno. That's why I told you to start it.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The moderation policy on HPC means that only bears post there so although some worthwhile opinions it can be a little odd when half a conversation gets historically editted. Here's a thread on another forum explaining it.
I am also a member of global HPC..... on HPC it is "the place that shall not be named!" (you can get banned for it i think!)
So anyway, not been in a while, must go and catch up and see whats going on!No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
It's quite funny that the OP is here concerned about someone offering 20% below asking price... when someone on here asks about buying, what do we tell them?
Offer 20% less than asking price!Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -
I have a coffee cup which I would not be willing to sell for less than £150,000.
Therefore it is worth £150,000.
You still don't get it. Asking price does not equate to worth.
I have a coffee cup which I would not be willing to sell for less than a million. Therefore it is worth a million. :rotfl:
Therefore I am a millionaire. Or the owner of a coffee cup . . .0 -
Lizzie you're young and have only seen and experienced a boom. This is clearly not your fault but you should be aware that we dont just have booms we have busts, In fact we have a bust every 18 years on a cycle going back 400 years!
In the last boom when I was young and naieve I bought a 4 bed detached in Peterborough for 55.000 on a mortgage of about 6% if my memory serves. I had a car and a motorbike and I watched with glee and wanton abandon as my house rose in value and I Mewed to live the high life. Then it all crashed. My mortgage went upto 17% and I handed the keys in and moved back in with mum with only my cat to my name and massive debts. The house, my house was sold for 44 grand at auction after achieving the heady heights of 128k at its peak. The bank and Eversheds pursued me for 12 years for over 80 grandI never payed them but also during that time I suffered terrible bad nerves and stress and also could not take on any other assetts otherwise they would have been over me like a shot! Thankfully that debt is now gone due to the high court ruling and the 12 year cutoff :j and my nerves are better :T
This post below is the easily the best summary of where we are at and why the massive injections of cash from the central banks will not save the sinking ship. It is a long read but will also open your eyes and place you in the vaunted position of having your OWN knowledge and so put you in the 0.1% of the UK and indeed world population that do! The other 99.99% do not have their own knowledge and rely on the press and Crusty (who is an idiot) so we like to call them Sheeple.

I also suggest reading over xmas Fred Harrisons excellent book "Boom, bust and the depression of 2010" This book details with evidence boom bust cycles going back over 400 years of economic data and is a most worthy read. If only our stupid Governments would apply the simple methods in it we would not have to keep going throught his cycle
All the best and merry xmas0 -
