Still cheaper than what motorway services charge though.0

I take it as they are referring to car insurance than fuel.ontheroad1970 said:
are you sure? It's scrawled all over the side of a Tesco branded tanker. The inference is clear and deliberate.user1977 said:
That doesn't appear to be a claim about their fuel prices though.molerat said:Car_54 said:
I don't believe Tesco have ever had that on their lorries.ontheroad1970 said:I believe Tesco lorries still have "Why Pay More" written on them. Time for action with ASA as Tesco is usually the most expensive in Port Talbot area - in fact an Esso on Bath Road at Heathrow is cheaper than them

When you are looking at a photograph on a computer/phone screen is different to how you see it when passing in a car. Tesco also used to have this same question printed on their petrol stations themselves, so there is also a historical link.Marvel1 said:

For the past 20+ years I have always filled up at Tesco / Asda based on price. For the past 6 months or so I have only filled up at a local indie Esso, again based on price + nectar points. Yesterday 53 litres at 3p less than Tesco plus 5p off per litre for 300 Nectar points and 11 x points.

I think there's also a degree of purchase price for the retailer, and fuel moving through the system. Who's to say that the local supermarket may not have older fuel still working through the pumps, and next time they get a delivery the price might go down. I've noticed our local Tesco was more expensive than the local Shell garage a couple of months ago, but is now cheaper. The difference seems to be based on Tesco reducing their price more than Shell in that time. The nearest Sainsburys is near to a BP garage and they were almost identical prices last week, which is unheard of as the BP is usually significantly more expensive.0

My local Tescos has been notably more expensive than some other stations for months. They lag between 3ppl and up to 10ppl behind the cheapest in the area.Bigphil1474 said:I think there's also a degree of purchase price for the retailer, and fuel moving through the system. My nearest Tesco is 10p dearer than rural independents, Morrisons is 6p dearer. I presume their customers are those who have done their shopping and fill up at the supermarket petrol stations instead of looking for alternatives.0

What irks me is they / another supermarket will then start some "supermarket price war" and have a big press conference about it because they want to "drive down the price of fuel for customers"Jaybee_16 said:My nearest Tesco is 10p dearer than rural independents, Morrisons is 6p dearer. they don't. you will probably find that the garage in question is a BP fuel station with a M&S simply food retail outlet in the same buildingEbe_Scrooge said:Stubod said:..yes we are being ripped off...yes we are being ripped off. In my local town there's an M&S petrol station (who even knew that they sold fuel?) that is charging 10p per litre more than Asda which is literally 500 yards up the road.<Actually .... "Sparks" .... fuel .... no thanks

You could also find that the whole operation is owned by EG who own Asda also...force_ten1 said:
