Amazon returns, seeking clarification

Hello
I've bought two relatively expensive Smart speakers. We have several already but thought we'd get a different colour this time. I've opened one and had my doubts re colour and was setting it up in the dining room that is north facing so not as much daylight as the south facing lounge. I noted the colour is not what we/I felt it was going to be. I'm certain I have 30 days of returns and even longer with this item. However, because I have opened and to be clear it is not faulty etc but the colour is not what I expected - will Amazon allow a FoC return, please? (To be clear there is no fault with the items. If I need to pay for a return, I will but wnat to know where I stand and waiting a few days to see if it grows on us and try placing in the landing area where one of these will be going)
I've read their T&C's and it is not clear to me.. Thank you for your help.

I like to be prepared, thanks again.

You say, will Amazon allow a FoC return, please?
Hi, I say yes. They will. (If they say they won't, complain bitterly because they are allowing other customers to do it).
I say this because I'm just in the process of returning a toaster that I ordered and I loved it when it arrived. However, the slots are so small that it won't take a normal sized slice of bread. So I went to my orders page, clicked on 'item not as expected' or 'not as described' or similar, can't remember now. You could put 'item not as expected' or similar. After all, when we buy online, we really don't know whether it's going to be to our liking or not. Amazon give you a generous time allowance during which to return items as well, though. I've had it for a week now, packed and ready to be returned and it'll be going tomorrow.
They asked me to choose how I wanted to return it, I chose Royal Mail collect from my home and they sent me a label to print out. I'm not paying for return postage.
I'm assuming that your item was ordered and bought from amazon. If it was a market place seller and there's no fault you may have to pay postage.
But if the item/s are from amazon, just start a return. No good trying to live with something that isn't suitable or that you really don't want. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. I sent an item back to Amazon last week and had no problem with a refund. I opened the product and didn't think it performed as well as it was stated. My return was accepted so I sent it back, a easy transaction1

I was feeling guilty at the poss of returning it, or both and one won't be opened if we dont like them
It is Amazon sold and delivered,
I will use the process you described and I'm feeling less guilty now, thanks again
Have a wonderful afternoon0 -

I did look at the pics, even made the pics larger, and should have stuck with the color we have.
It's a pint as well as I hate returning stuff, time, effort etc. Thankfully I always open the packing carefully
and always keep the item as new and if I do return it ill be almost 100% like new.

My experience with Amazon is that, if it's a change of mind, you will have the return postage deducted from your refund. If the goods are faulty, you will get a full refund.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3664

If the colour is not what it appeared to be as advertised when it's out of the packaging then you have a case in sending it back. I have never sent anything back before until last week. I was going to put up with what was sent and then I thought what a waste I'll never use it. I even felt guilty following the return procedure but it was accepted and off it went. Just do it you have nothing to lose.1

I'm aware colours can look different in pics and even noted this when buying stuff in stores EG wood flooring, clothes/suit, looked different inside and different in day light - so I am a tad feeling guilty
If we decide not to keep it we will not open the 2nd one and see how it goes but even if the postage to 2/3 quid, still hurts but what hurts more is going down to the postoffice as I've not been to one, 10/20 years, not sure.0
