Gettingmyshiztogether said:Soontobeoap said:Just popped into Argos in Sainsburys. Whilst there I bought 2 bags of sprouts and 4 swedes for 19p each. Spent a happy hour prepping and freezing veg incuding making some puree out of left over tomatoes. Husband was chirping away in the background "why are you doing all of this work when you are so busy already!" i polished my halo and left him to it. 😂
I will be doing some mashed Swede and carrots/parsnip on Christmas eve as well as red cabbage. Some for dinner and lots into the freezer when the Christmas bits come out. It just makes economical sense to do so.8 -

We shopped a lot over the last week or so, some for bulk purchases but mostly for the party tomorrow. It's not a big bash, but I was out of most things, especially things that I might bake with. I've once again busted my budget and the total expense for the month until now, including the meal kit that is about to come tomorrow is £130.51 and I expect it to increase by £5 over the next week.
Bulk purchases came to £79.15 and include a whole lot of baking supplies. I'm not too happy with myself for not using up the food in our pantry better than I have. I need to do something about it soon and reduce our expenses. This is the first month with our heating running. If January turns out to be as cold as the last week we'll see a good chunk of money leaving our pockets. Electricity is getting pricier in January and we need to get through at least the next 3-4 months without dipping into our savings.
Total expense for December- £130.51/£120 bulk expense- £79.15/£100

Clicked and collected from Morries yesterday (the girl who brought my stuff out said it was their last sensible day before the mayhem starts). Even so the car park was packed. I was able to leave my car in the collection bay while I nipped in and picked up the now-in-stock items that were OOS when I ordered.
A little disappointed that two clementines (so far) were beyond use. One was mouldy at the top and it had extended into the segments as well as the pith. The other was squashed in a way someone should have noticed. I'm also a bit worried about the sprouts as some of them have what looks like age spots on the outer leaves.
Baking bread today to use up some dips leftover from the weekend together with some sliced meats now out of the freezer (from last Christmas!)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Just quickly updating with £46.75 spent at Iceland online delivery on Sunday which was mostly buffet type food for the week after Xmas and some food to use through this week. Yesterday we took the kids along to Tesco with us and said “yes” to everything they asked for
which ended up costing us £73.46 but did include £10 on coffee, £12 on branded crisps that they never usually have, more cheeses, party food for husbands work and food for our pizza party yesterday. Not going to lie I am feeling abit ill at all the treat food in the house and the amount of money spent compared to a normal month but it will all get used and will last well into next year! On that note I have an Asda click and collect tomorrow night for the actual dinner for Xmas day, which I have to sort out later but I will go over budget, not worried about it there’s Enough time for that through next year lol.
£280.98/350 spent..8 -
