Advice on "Demand for Payment" letter from Excel Parking.

Hi,
Can anyone advise me ...
I parked at a car park next to the beach on the East Coast. This is an Excel Monitored car park.
I had taken my horse for exercise and have a 3.5 tonne horse box.
I had purchased a ticket and paid £10.00 but i had put one of the letters wrong for the Number plate.
I received A letter from Excel asking for £100 as saying i had not paid .
I replied and explained i had paid £10.00 but unfortunately put one wrong letter in to the machine and i sent them the parking ticket with proof of the payment.
They then replied to my appeal saying they charge for mistakes and also i had paid at the end of my stay and out of the consideration period and the fine is now £160.
I have been back to the car park and there is a sign as you drive out which says you can pay on leaving.
I have always paid on leaving and never had a fine before.
I paid £10.00 for 2 hours parking which is the correct charge for a horse box.
I am worried that i will be issued a CCJ but i do not see why i have to pay the fine when i have paid the correct amount and before i left (as per the sign).
Would you advise me to stand my ground?
THanks,

Complain to Excel and the IPC that the operator has failed to abide by their trade associations requirements to install typo proof machines that the IPC themselves have called a moral obligation.

Excel have signed up to the Get your reg right campaign yet have failed to ensure their PDT machines are typo proof.

You should also complain to your MP.

IMO, no CC Judge is likely to side  with the parking company.  I would ignore it all unless you receive a court claim   Have you complained your MP?

@D_P_Dance, long time no see Sir. Where's ya bin? 😮
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

You won't get a CCJ if you follow our advice but come back when you get a Claim.

Hi ...I have now received a Letter Before Claim from The Litigation and Debt dept at Excel and forms to fill in . I did receive another demand letter after I last posted on here . All letters are sent 2nd class and never recorded.  I did send excel the photo of the sign that says you can pay on leaving . I also wrote to my MP but not heard anything back at all. I don't know if I have the nerve to hold of paying as so scared will get a CCJ . It says I have to 5/1/23 to settle it or will commence legal proceedings . The reason they have put is parked without payment of the parking tariff for the vehicle registration mark of the vehicle on site.
Please advise and thank you for all your comments before .
