If you're out, get the EA to do the viewing - that's partially what you're paying them for, so make them earn their money!0

Ditto, get the EA to do it and arrange it.0

I've done the opposite. On one move, found 2 boxes of stuff at the back of a cupboard I'd never unpacked on the previous move 3 years before (and never missed)!jimbog said:
But what happens if a sale falls through the night before? The seller finds themselves in a home where EVERYTHING is packed away. Has anyone heard of anyone having to unpack everything ?3 -
I wonder if it is a regional thing?davemorton said:Dont know if it is an area thing, but the last 4 house purchases I have made have all been exchange/complete on the same day.
I doubt I've dealt with more than 4 instances of simultaneous exchange/completion in 25 years.
The only instance where it makes any sense is if the buyer isn't selling anywhere and the property being purchased is already empty. The thought of loading everything in to a van hoping that a simultaneous exch/comp goes to plan seems absolute madness to me.0 -
Haha yeah I've been trying to eat all the freezer food, and having friends over to help !!SadieO said:Same here - hoping to exchange this week or next. I've been gradually packing for a couple of weeks now. Spare bedroom and dining room look like a warehouse but that doesn't bother me. Haven't yet had to unpack anything that we've unexpectedly needed, but even if we did that would be one box (all labelled) so it wouldn't be a big deal. I'd rather have most things packed than leave everything to the last minute on the off-chance that I will accidentally pack something I can't live without! I am also trying to use up store-cupoboard food and things from the freezer so there will be less to move - it is leading to some interesting combinations for tea but actually quite fun!
I've also been 'hoping to exchange' for weeks now and slowly losing the will...good luck to everyone. My buyer is an investor and I'm worried that the delay is his finance getting pulled, but whatever happens I can live without all of my ornaments, books etc for as long as it takes to move!!Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!2
