  • Okay I have the data and if I'm reading your comments right I'm still not getting the number calculated by Octopus (the numbers presented are downloads from my Octopus account).

Based on the numbers in your original spreadsheet, your unadjusted savings were 0.818 kWh and 0.599 kWh for the two half hour periods. Your in-day adjustment was 0.463 kWh, so your total savings were 2.34 kWh. Octopus calculated your savings at 2.24 kWh, so there's a discrepancy of 4%. That magnitude difference wouldn't be something I'd be too concerned about, although my own figures were out by only 0.3%, which is within the limits of rounding.
Were any of your consumption figures manually typed in to the spreadsheet, or manually copied and pasted from the wrong date or time?

Thanks for your help.  I've recrunched my numbers for the 6 sessions I've done and have differences varying from -5.7% to 5.52%.  I'm going to keep playing with the numbers to see if there may be some weird rounding process that my be in play.  Again Thanks.

Results from 25/03/23 are now in and Octopoints have been added to my account.

Bit odd, by my calculations the points I was awarded for 25/3 would be at £2.20 per kw saved not the £3 expected.
Strange thing is the KW Octopus say I've saved seems to be reduced to match £3 per kw

I've been puzzling over their calculations too. As you say, all the figures match after applying a correction factor of 2.25/3.00, so that's highly suspicious.
  • I’m not sure what’s gone on - but it looks like something on the calculation side, changing from the usual £2.25 to a £3 reward is at fault.  The question is will Octopus correct it, or leave things as they are?

TBH - I wouldn't mind if they'd just used the £2.25 in place of £3 , but to adjust down the kw saved certainly seems dodgy

I wouldn't go as far as 'dodgy', but it suggests the kWh saving has been calculated on the webpage from the Octopoints rather than the other way around. The error is in the calculation of Octopoints, so perhaps £2.25 needed to be changed to £3.00 in two places, but the adjustment was only made to one part of the calculation.

Hmm, what's going on here then? Seems like it's not just my account that's a bit off from my predictions.
My guesstimate on the previous session was within 1p, whereas these results are adrift by £6.92.
Ah well. We'll see if they get corrected or not. I agree that they've used the usual £2.25 factor, rather than £3.00.
