They couldn't collect my data from the 15th March.

Can you see it on one of the third party apps and send that to Octopus?

I'm surprised they didn't get it even a week later if it was just that day. They've been very good in general at going back and pulling the missing days.

With most people giving up after only making 15p-30p i expect the trail to be a complete failure at reducing actual real demand.

If they did £10 a kwh with an adjustment 1hr before and 1hr after, with just 2hrs warning then 90% of people without home batts or an EV could do the only thing they can actually do and that is to move diner time around.

People home charging an EV at 6pm must be very rare, i hope.

What evidence is there that most people gave up?

I don't have an EV, so can't comment on home charging, but I've found the sessions really helpful. I have electric heating and would normally need to give the house a significant blast after being empty during the day, so have benefited greatly by setting the heating to come on a few hours earlier. If they got rid of the IDA completely, then I'd still gladly participate in the scheme next winter.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I won't be bothering for that kind of money. I'm with Eon Next, and was happy to shift my usage for a payment of around £15. But once they stopped using the IDA I'm getting about 40p. Not worth the effort, so I suppose it depends on the details of how it's run next winter.

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

If I were with Eon Next, then I'd have immediately stopped participating through them and signed up with a different provider to prevent them dishonestly appropriating any further money from DFS in my name. I'd also weigh up whether I'd want to end the relationship with them and switch supplier. But that's separate to the issue of what I'd do if the calculation was legitimately changed in the future.
I took part in the original Octopus Big Dirty Turn Down trial in early 2022, and rewards for that were much less generous than the current DFS even with IDA removed.
  • Good morning, can anyone help me explain how my data, attached, is calculated to provide the .82712 kWh in day adjustment.

You seem to be missing data for the in day adjustment period between 1st - 14th March.
When you have that, you take an average for each half hour period for those prior 10 days. Then subtract these average usage figures from the IDA half hour figures on the session day and average those results to get the IDA used in the session. All explained in detail in the early pages of the thread.
