I've just seen my reward from Eon Next (yes I know this is for Octopus) for the 13th February event BUT my calculations this time only tie in with the result by ignoring the in-day adjustment.  So my reward was £1.38 instead of a calculated £3.05p.  Is this the case (a reduced reward) with Octopus customers as well?

What was your usage in the in day adjustment period?

Usage for that day was 2.75 kWh (1330-1630) and average for previous 10 weekdays (same time period was 1.08 kWh).  In event usage (1730-1830) was 0.23 kWh compared to average non-event normal (last 10 weekdays in same period) of 0.69 kWh so a reduction of 0.46 kWh.  The reward was stated as being £0.42 for reduction of 0.14kWh.

Hmmm now you got me thinking.  I was thinking £3/kWh reduction.

Check my maths if you could

    0.14kWh reduction = 42p reward
    1kWh reduction = 42p*(1.00/0.14) = 300p

Eon has always been £3/kWh I think. I too think perhaps this time the in day adjustment period was ignored.
  • Just checked with another Eon user and the maths checks out i.e no in-day adjustment in either case (his or mine).

That does appear to be the case, hopefully Eon can sort it out.

Maybe Eon realised people were gaming the system, so made their own rules 😉

Probably coincidence, but since I started gaming the system (in January) with Eon Next, I haven't been invited to join any more events. I've now missed 2 or 3, which is frustrating, especially as when I signed up they said there would be 12 over the winter.

Anyone know if it's normal to be missed out of some?

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

There have been a few on boarding events you wouldn't get invited to. Last one for mass eon customers was 13th Feb
