I think we used about 40kwh between 5-8am, so should be around £30 then.
An extra bonus was today's Intelligent schedule, it included a period 5:30-10am, so this electricity will be at 10p tariff (as opposed to 40p outside of the schedule/night hours)Gas: warm air central heating, instant water heater, Octopus tracker
Electricity: 3kw south facing solar array, EV, Octopus intelligent0 -

Octopus have asked National Grid to consider changing the 'in day adjustment calculation'.
Found this on Octopus Blog. Common questions about saving sessions. Understanding your results. I didn't save as much as I thought - what's going on?2 -

This means that some people who prepare for their Saving Session by switching off hours in advance might end up earning slightly less during their Sessions. We can’t change how we calculate this (it’s a requirement to be part of the grid’s project!) But, we have asked National Grid to consider changing the in-day adjustment calculation so it doesn’t negatively impact the Savers that prepare further in advance.
So it would appear Octopus are requesting a change to prevent any negative in-day adjustment.0 -
It's interesting if you read that FAQ bit in full. They encourage you to use energy before the cut off period to get a bigger saving.Try to shift more of your peak energy to before the Session – e.g. try to run the washing and cook earlier rather than later – and avoid switching everything off hours ahead of time.
Couldn’t I just game the system by using much more power before the Session?
We can’t blame you for wondering! But the cost of using much more energy every day over Winter just so you can earn more during a few hours of Saving Sessions just wouldn’t add up favourably in the end.

Ok perhaps someone can work this out for me
Baseline average over the last 10 days between 9-10 was 2.1kwh.
Today's usage between 5-8am was 14kwh
During the 9-10am slot we used 0.7kwh
The payment from loop is £2.50/kwh0 -
Why are Octopus giving so little warning about saving sessions ?I missed this mornings session - didn't tick the box - because I only received an email at 20 to 7 last night !Could it be that they are not really interested in "saving energy" - and dont really want everyone switching off - just in IMAGE ?
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0
