I am registered as a vulnerable customer - so hope to get some warning !
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -
Lorian said:It couldn't be much less notice than this one as there is some human decision making to be done on the part of the power companies during the offer/accept phase between the grid and the power companies. unless they are all on call 24/7. Could they offer one first thing in a morning for a 5pm activiation? just about if all the ducks were in a row I think. Have to keep time for the in-day adjustment period and the buffer hour. Bound to be less uptake due to people not seeing it in time.3

I do believe the intention is to shift the usage between the designated "quieter" period 4 hours before the expected heavy load period up to an hour before that period of energy shifting starts.
You then get rewarded for the work you had to do.1 -
Coal power plants put on standby for tomorrow, and anticipated requirement notice this morning was a good sign it was going to be another real test tomorrow, but they're late at issuing the actual requirement, or rescinding it...

Baseline average over the last 10 days between 9-10 was 2.1kwh.
Today's usage between 5-8am was 14kwh
During the 9-10am slot we used 0.7kwh
The payment from loop is £2.50/kwh
Working out (assuming I remembered the details):
In day adjustment for 5-8am is extra 10kWh (14 - 4kWh), so 3.3kWh extra per hour.
Baseline for 9-10 would be 5.4kWh (normal 2.1kWh + 3.3kWh)
Saving 4.7kWh (5.4 - 0.7kWh)0 -
Notice just issued for live event 5pm to 6pm tomorrow4

Simply use lots of leccy between 1-4pm tomorrow and as little as possible 5-6pm 😉Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Octopus (and eon.next) and lots of others have responded and are taking part.0

Octopus had a wide range of bids and prices accepted - some up to double the usual test amount, so it should be more than 1800 octopoints per kWh for this one...1
