  • Honestly guys, just burn all you can 4 to 1 hour before the event, that's all the formula is really interested in.

And, assuming these events are always gunna be 5-8pm ish, try and shift load away from the afternoons on non-saving session days, so either morning or (ironically) to peak times.
  • No need to change your usage on non saving days the ONLY factor that affects payment is the inday adjustment. I've lost interest in trying to prove that fact. I use next to nothing through the week day time period (solar and empty house), variable but low usage 16:00 to 20:00 most evenings as we have gas heating, gas fire, gas hob and gas oven.. Yet I can gain massive payback by consuming as much as possible in the inday adjustment period and my octo points prove it.. Just try it net session, I used £7.50 at 18p per kwh (yes I nearly blew my 60amp incomer fuse as I approached 14Kwh at times) over three hours and was rewarded with £35 octo points.

You're still here proving yourself wrong then?

"I use next to nothing through the week day time period" - which is exactly what @razord was talking about.

So you literally just use as much as you can from 12 till 4 (assuming the saving period is 5 - 6pm?

Perhaps 1 till 4 would be better on 5-6pm saving period

But what you normally use in the 6 x 30m periods in T-4 to T-1 on qualifying non-saving days is subtracted from your in day adjustment periods on the saving day.

Say you use 100w on average on non-saving days across those periods, and use 1kw on a saving day for those 6 periods, your in day adjustment is +900w. That 900w is added to the saving session period average for the qualifying days.

So if you can reduce that number as much as possible outside of saving days, your in day adjustment on the day has an even bigger effect.

Surely the formula will be adjusted as this kind of goes against the aim of the scheme?

  • 13:00 to 16:00 for a 17:00 to 18:00 saving session guys.  3 hours finishing 1 hour prior to even, crazy but true.
