Surely the formula will be adjusted as this kind of goes against the aim of the scheme?
The aim of the scheme is to shift load away from peak times on the day in question.  This does that.  An expensive way of doing it - but cheaper than paying for extra power stations to turn on.
It doesn't though. What it's doing is shifting my usage away from my current off-peak window (starting at 9:30pm on Go Faster) back to the 3 hours ending 1 hour before the session. If anything it's doing the opposite of what was intended.

The marginal saving from actually reducing my regular usage in the session itself is irrelevant. I used about 20kWh in those 3 hours. While my regular usage averages about 500Wh for the session, I've been credited with reducing my usage by over 6kWh. I could have quadrupled my typical usage in the session and still 'saved' 4kWh.

The formula is obviously flawed. A simple cap on the in day adjustment would fix it, or comparing the whole 24 hours rather than just 3 would greatly reduce the incentive to game it.
I should have said "shift the peak or the predicted potential for a peak".

Which it does.  Not well, and in an obviously game-able way, but it generally does.

some people are saying to use more in the last hour before the saving session, but I have also read that what you use in the last hour does not count. I did save during the last 2 sessions by following the advice to use more in the preceding 4 hours but am interested to know about the last hours use

The documentation says "from 4 hours before until 1 hour before".

I was not home until the hour before, on the 30th, when I used the oven and fan heater, I didn't receive any points as they say i made no saving. I haven't read the documentation, but this does reinforce what you say.

I used a few KW/h worth of electricity (by accident) before the 4th session in the sweet spot (1 till 4) and I have actually earned some money!  Seems that is really all it needs.  Will be filling my battery in the next sweet spot before the session, as they really need it now it's winter!

It does make a lot more difference than you would expect - especially if you are generally a low user.

It definitely does. I'm a low user and despite being out the house I only saved 22p and 25p on the first two sessions.

Last week I was at home so had a bit of an experiment... Used a lot more than normal during the 3 hour window - dishwasher, washing machine etc. Even flicked the immersion on for an hour and I never use that.  Earned £3.25 and £2.63 on those two sessions so definitely worth it.

I'm surprised we haven't had a saver session yet this week, especially with it being so cold.
Can't be much wind generating this week.

Renewables have generally been running at about 10GW this week whereas the other week I think it dipped below 1GW at one point.

I opted into a couple of sessions and got the results back today, saved £1.47. We didn't particularity do anything different during the sessions so must have been pot luck we used less electricity, possibly not using the oven.
