Phoning re a couple of jobs first thing tomorrow - wish me luck! A bit of advice please, I'm stalling on doing my budget planner etc and using "not got an income/job yet to get realistic figures" :o . Shall I bite the bullet and start or wait until I know what income is coming in?

Don't wait, just go for it! And good luck with job hunting....

Quick Question, if we are given bank charges, are these to come out of our £4000 budget?

well the only DDs left to come out of my account are mobile £35 and £51.35 from paypal. Maybe one theatre ticket [can't remember if that sort of think is include] I already have my food & travel money out so all money in account can go towards debt.

I would say yes in general, because we didn't ought to be getting them.

If you mean the monthly account fee, where you get breakdown cover etc, then consider whether you actually need it (I canx mine as part of this challenge). If essential eg for work, then don't count it. If it is a nice-to-have, then do count it.

    Confused? You will be!

Today, I have updated my spreadsheet and my signature (amount gone down due to a refund - great way to start the year!)

    Lunch and tea with family!

    Definitely a no spend day.

Got my baskets yesterday from postingalwaysposting's thread. Made up my sister's and aunty's bday hamper ('haircare' and 'blue' hampers) already & looks great. All from sales stuff. Some bogof so have conditioner and stuff for the year free too.

Started some other hampers too (a feel-good hamper for mum).

I got 5x hamburger CD cases for 1p from another thread just after Xmas. (Plus a computer extension lead so I would get free delivery) And they turned up yesterday and my son loves them. So those will be used as presents too.

Today I am going to finish making about 4 'personal' cards that I haven't done yet (eg father's day), and update my hamper list so I can start searching for bargains for other hampers.

And I shall enter some comps.

And I have a little bit of work to do that I should have done yesterday.

Morning all and a Happy New Year! I too am really excited about this year, I just hope it doesn't wear off when we get down to the nitty gritty! Itching to name my target but must be patient...I only have to wait til tomorrow! Like others, our dds come out tomorrow so that'll be a heavy spending day; not planning to spend anything today to compensate. Going for a long walk, clear up the house and make lots of chilli and mushroom soup for the freezer, with all the bargain mushrooms I picked up yesterday. Oh, that reminds me, does anyone on here go foraging? Would like to give it a bit of a go this year - my dad brings home gorgeous wild mushrooms sometimes but I don't know what I'm looking for and would prefer not to poison myself (although could be good for the spending :D). Think I'll see if there's a book in the library for starters...
Good luck everyone, enjoy it while we're still feeling loaded! :rotfl:

Jacks, £26 is one heck of an amount for internet, I'm on one of AOLs top packages, first 6 months is £10 and £15 after that, I'd really suggest you shop around. With the care for your relatives, do you claim carers allowance for them? It might help with the travel. Guessing there isn't a bus pass that would make it cheaper for you? Thinking about it, would it be cheaper to learn how to drive?

    Cheers lil_me ,
The internet cost *is* shocking isn't it?! :o BUT it actually saves us money. We live in Hampshire and hubby's job is in Hertfordshire since his company relocated so he spend 3-4 hours a day driving the 100 mile+ journey to and from work and £40 -45 a day in petrol depending on traffic, diversions, accidents, and the state of the M25 etc. Bless him. I don't know how he does it every day.

SO...(this is turning out to be a very long winded explanation! :o )

Superfast broadband enables hubby to manage his servers from home a couple of days a month saving him long pointless hours in the car - and us at least £40 in petrol every time he does it. (Work don't especially love it but they allow it.)

As for the oldies, because we all live in three separate counties I have so far been unable to find any kind of Season Ticket that works.

I *can* drive, but because of my high insurance costs, the constant parking tickets we get for parking in our street (Too many cars for the spaces available)and the distances involved, running a car would cost more than the £200 a month the bus costs me.

Cheers anyway though, lil_me - it's nice to see you outside of the GC! :D

    Love Jacks xxx :D

 PS GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY - IT IS ON! WOOHOOO!
